WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama expressed deep concern on Sunday at the Honduran military's arrest and expulsion of President Manuel Zelaya from the country.
"As the Organization of American States did on Friday, I call on all political and social actors in Honduras to respect democratic norms, the rule of law and the tenets of the Inter-American Democratic Charter," Obama said in a statement.
"Any existing tensions and disputes must be resolved peacefully through dialogue free from any outside interference," he said. (Editing by Patrick Rucker)
He’s afraid of his own “expulsion”.
Obama may be next I hope.
Gee. Mr. Obama seems concerned about a man who ignored his country’s constitution and Supreme Court ruling regarding presidential actions. See yourself, Obummer?
Wow! That was quick! Contrast the speed of the presidential reaction on Honduras vs. Iran. Could it be because a Leftist was thrown out that concerns Obama so?
The Kenyan is afraid that he’s next. Will Chavez give him asylum?
They didn’t shoot this clown?
Zelaya vows to go ahead with controversial Honduras voteAna Fernandez

Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was to go ahead with a controversial “non-binding” constitutional referendum, despite growing international concern it could threaten the country’s democracy.
Zelaya, elected in 2006 for a non-renewable four-year term, said he wanted to ask Hondurans if they approved of holding a vote on constitutional change in tandem with general elections in November — a move that has been ruled illegal by the country’s top court.
The president’s four-year term ends in January, and he is prevented by law from seeking re-election.
The president has said the balloting will be held Sunday between 7:00 am (1300 GMT) and 4:00 pm (2200 GMT).
“This process is completely illegal,” prominent local lawyer Geman Leitzelar told AFP. He argued that the president’s real goal was to “provoke a crisis in order to stay in power.”
The attempt by Zelaya, a leftist, to hold a referendum on changing the constitution has angered the country’s top courts, the attorney general, military leaders and even his own party.
Exactly my thinking. And, his fears may be more well founded than he thinks at the moment.
“Concerned”?
Seems to be the typical rhetorical spewage from Barry; how quaint.
Someone really needs to inform Barry that he is in way over his pay grade....opps, wait....
The one who wasn’t respecting the norms was the would-be dictator, who was staging an “auto-golpe,” which would have put him in office permanently, removing term limits and limits to his powers. The Honduran courts had ruled against the manipulated referendum he intended to use to stage this takeover, and he did it anyway, so he is being legitimately removed. The last thing we need is another leftist Latin American dictator, although that’s right up Bambi’s alley.
Bambi’s just afraid this will prevent him from trying the same thing.
Of course, his idea of dialogue is to say, "I won."
You first, Mr. Presidon't
don”t worry< Bambi will save him...
“I call on...”
Oh brother. He’s beginning to get on my nerves.
Sounds to me like Zero is coming down pretty firmly on the side of the wannabe dictator.
This is Hussein's kind of guy. Damn the Constitution -- full speed "ahead".
The man is so worried about his global image, he can’t fully involve himself in the job of President of the U.S.A.
He has yet to deliver a strong message condemning Iranian leaders..Oops he can’t, he agrees with repression of people in the name of islam.
I bet he’s concerned.
C’mon, Bam, fly your freak flag high, show us all your true colors. Denounce the arrest of an unconstitutional, communist usurper.
It’ll be too rich for words.
