Received the following email message from FReeper Stuart Weil yesterday while we were at the Reagan Library:
"Last week I noticed a small group of demonstrators on the corner of Blackstone and Shaw peacefully holding signs protesting the tyranny of the Iranian dictator Ali Khamenei and for human rights of their fellow Iranian’s who wish to live in freedom instead of oppression, violence, discrimination and fanaticism at the hands of the Iranian Mullahs. Although I am not Iranian, I stand with them in solidarity and share their frustration and anger at the repressive Iranian regime."
"President Obama has been virtually silent on the plight of the freedom loving Iranian people as they risk beatings, imprisonment, torture and death at the hands of the Islamic Republic."
"Please join me in support and solidarity of our local Iranian-Americans as we rally with them on the corner of Blackstone and Shaw from 5:30 to 7:00 every evening."

Stuart and I were there with about a dozen or so Iranian-Americans calling for Democracy in Iran. They didn’t want any pictures posted to the Internet because they were afraid that would make trouble for their relatives in Iran. One lady in the group says her brother was arrested over there and they were very worried about him.
We received lots of support from the passing motorists.

Thanks for the update, I’m glad to see the solidarity and show of support. I hadn’t considered the impact of photos, although I did notice some protestors (photos from Philly, NYC) disguising their appearance with sunglasses, hats and head coverings or a carefully held poster, wise I’m sure.
