On a buzzing boulevard in this busy shopping town, across from a supermarket and not far from a PetSmart, there sits a building that might be mistaken for a place where you can have your teeth cleaned, were it not for the name affixed to the brick: The John Birch Society.
For some, that name means nothing. Or it sparks flashbacks to the 1960s, when the John Birch Society was synonymous with seeing red here, there and everywhere. Maybe you displayed a Birch bumper sticker on your car; maybe you enjoyed the Chad Mitchell Trio song mocking the Birch obsession with communism:
You cannot trust your neighbor or even next of kin
If mommy is a commie then you gotta turn her in.
Yet for others, the John Birch Society is urgently relevant to the matters of today, in its support of secure borders and limited government, its distrust of the Federal Reserve and the United Nations, and its belief in a conspiracy to merge Mexico, Canada and the United States.
This so-called North American Union, it asserts, is part of a larger plot by an amorphous, amoral group of powerful elite — including but not limited to the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission and the Rockefellers — to take over planet Earth. Call it the New World Order.
Some of these theories may sound like cable television chatter, or the synopsis of a Dan Brown bestseller. But Birch leaders say this plot is real, with roots going back more than 200 years to a secret, insidious brotherhood called the Illuminati, and with most American presidents among its many dupes and abettors.
“We’ve always referred to it as a Satanic conspiracy,” said Arthur Thompson, the society’s chief executive, sitting beside an American flag.

Throughout my life, I’ve always heard the Birchers dismissed as loony conspiracy theorists. Not too long ago, after another FR thread, I looked them up on Wikipedia. From the little I read, I figured they were right on the money & deserved an apology. Everything they’ve been saying is coming true!

But they were completely right. I recall in 1965 that the JBS position on Martin King was that he was perhaps not a Communist (as in CP USA member), he was "pink" and was a sympathizer.
This of course was heresy at the time as MLK was on his way to Sainthood. But it is now known to be entirely correct.
The same "liberals" at the time denied that the USSR had intentions of world domination or even that the Gulags existed and ridiculed anyone who said so. I remember this rather vividly.
History proved them utterly wrong. So their statements can only be ranked as being either the product of gross ignorance, or willful lies. Or both (my choice).
The Leftists are murderous liars willing to say and do anything to win. Beating down the JBS was one element of their strategy. It continues today, but is a little harder to sell in light of the human rebellion against Communism that occurred over the last 30 years in Poland, Germany, and even Russia.
I wonder if the NY Slimes ever wrote a story about Alex Jones and his “Bohemian Grove” conspiracy or the 9/11 truthers?
For those of us who feel frustrated and want to do something about the Communisation of America, here’s a ready-made organization with structure and know-how based on long experience.
They’re looking for members.
Paranoia has an opposite, and it's often much more irrational, and dangerous.
We didn't have to be going through the mess we see today, it was not inevitable.

People bad mouth Birchers, but they are spot on.
Many years ago, in my performance as an in home salesman, I met a Bircher who seemed impressed with me.
He gave me a copy of a book I still have; "None Dare Call It Conspiracy"
I read that book over the weekend.
Little did I know how my thoughts would be directed toward looking at America and my own life.

I read 2 books by the JBS in the last year: both about the threat of the UN to the US. While not entirely persuasive, the books were pretty good reads and revealed a lot of subterfuge and sabotage by US citizens. One expects that some foreigners would be hostile to the US. However, some US citizens work daily to bring down their own nation.

Those who continue to deny the North American and European elite who pine for the “new world order” and it’s socialistic dreams for a global army and global taxation and rule are not paying attention. And all this power is to be beyond the reach of the UN’s “states” and their elected officials. I can not imagine living under the rule and economy arising from “non-partisan” agreement between Iran, China, Russia and France.
Currently Obama is going to make the move to turn over all power of economic regulation to the Federal Reserve. The Federal reserve will be one part of the International Monetary Fund that will regulate and plan a global economy totally outside the reach of our elected officials.
Just like the Federal Reserve, the biggest bank in the sky -the IMF - will answer to no one only even worse as currently the Federal Reserve and IMF do not hold all regulatory economic powers over US or the globe.
The establishment of a governing power over the economy of the globe is the ground floor move for building a global government and I would not be surprised if they don’t decide to change the globe’s currency. As Geithner let slip, they are open to that possibility.
God only knows what hellish oppression and poverty will come out of a global government economic regulation machinery! One thing I know. It will soon be dealing with it’s global taxation duties.
Amazing that the things that seemed insane just a few years ago seem possible today. Guess I’ll keep stocking up on ammo!
