MSNBC reports Harry Reid does not have enough votes to pass the cap-and-trade bill.

I don't know how Bayhs business interest are but Sen Lugar stands to win big.
Approx 3 years ago he registered 604 acres of black walnut trees on the Chicago Climate Exchange.
If this passes, he and his family are already established in the new market place. Lugar, could vote no and win politically, but secretly be celebrating if it passes.
Nice huh he is positioned to win both ways
(RINO) call: Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain, brings the total to 61!
That’s my guess as well. Just like Pelosi had some of her red state Congressmen vote against like Dan Boren from OK.
Seeing the locations of the 8, I would have to guess that is pretty close to what happened. Boehner and Cantor knew if the GOP voted all together, Pelosi would get the necessary votes from the Dems to pass which some cannot seem to understand. It is a cat and mouse game and the GOP just does not have the votes to stop anything in the House.
She would have replaced those “8” Republican votes in a heartbeat. They didn’t cause it to pass because those Dems voting no did it mostly to keep their seats. There are probably about 12 of them that would have voted NO but 44 — no way if she needed those votes.
That is why when it reaches the Senate, we will pick up a lot more NO Dem votes from oil/farm states. You won’t see Landrieu, Nelson of NE and others vote for this bill and Inhofe knows it. He knows who he can count on to vote NO and Reid knows the same thing.
Longer this is delayed in the Senate, the more NO votes it will pick up and probably why Queen Pelosi rammed it through last night. She didn’t want them going back to their districts but now those “8” are going to have a horrible break from the House and wish they had voted “NO!”
“Those who’s job it is to oppose them, the Republicans, are impotent cowards or quislings. No hope there.”
For the life of me, I can’t figure out why men park their manhood at the door when they arrive in D.C. It’s like a pack of feeble sissies are representing us there. Is there not a single man who will stand and say (a la Rush) “No we won’t!” Where are the acid-tongued, intellectual heavyweights? Do they fear not being invited to cocktail parties/luaus—or worse, having to stand in a corner alone at one? What in DC would seduce ANYONE?
Thanks!
Right, that will be till the Kenyan and his cohorts begin a reign of terror on those who know better than to cross him.
Except Senator Inhofe says the same thing, and he’s leading the charge against this abomination.
No offense to the good senator but can’t he also be sandbagged/duped?
Nobody’s infallible, obviously. He has brought down similar bills before, and he seems extremely confident that he can do it again.

Razor-Thin House Vote Spells Doom for Cap-and-Tax in the Senate
Inhofe Vows to Expose Bill in the Senate as All Cost, No Climate Gain

As a black man, I will say it: had Bill Clinton actually BEEN the first black president, a lot of this crap would have happened 16 years ago. The color of his skin, along with his party, would have given him cover.
Perhaps the first senators to be called should be the ones that are up for reelection next year...1/3 of them. If we only had some kind of hook, like "you vote to put us out of our job, we'll vote to put you out of yours."
I believe the Founding Fathers drew up the government so that the Senate would be able to dilute and cool the passions of the moment exhibited by the House.
They’re just trying to get us to stop calling, emailing, faxing, and complaining.
The bill will pass once it has grown another 500 pages, and all of the Lords have gotten their piece of the pie.
True, but it also means that we are very close to unanimity, which is what it’s going to take to have any shot at coming back from this. As I remind everyone, Lenin gained control of Russia (160 million people) with a cadre of only 20,000 die-hard followers.
Not surprising that many of those same “republicans” voted for H.R. 1913, the recent hate crimes legislation that refused to exclude pedophiles from protection.
Time for anarchy if either of these pass.
I flat outright dare anyone from EPA to set one foot on my property with the intention of telling me what I can and can’t do with my stock ponds. It may be the last thing either of us do.
Come and get me.
Fair enough..but what is the minority whips job responsibility? Yes..to whip the party into shape...not be tanned and give abbreviated filibusters...
Boener failed..period...no excuses! He must resign or be fired.... His effectiveness is substandard....weak...poor...shameful.
Aye, fight and you may die.
Run, and you’ll live...at least a while.
And dying in your beds,
many years from now,
would you be willin’ to trade all the days, from this day to that,
for one chance, just one chance,
to come back here and tell our enemies
that they may take our lives,
but they’ll never take our freedom!
Not to worry, believe me they will find the votes. The Republican Party needs to get their s!it together and soon. 2010 is just around the corner. As it stands now the Republicans are more interested in shooting themselves in the foot. They need to find a common spine and ASAP!
Remember how that turned out?!
Many Democrats ought to be defeated in 2010 for this giant pile of crap. But the EIGHT RINOs in the House who voted "yes" on the Carbon Tax bill need to be replaced with people who love the free market.
