Sarah Palin At High Noon

By Lloyd Marcus

I just watched the classic movie "High Noon" (again). Gary Cooper played a brave sheriff who brought law and order to his town. As one woman said, "He made it safe for a decent woman to walk down the street". A recently released outlaw was coming back to town on the noon train to deliver vengeance against the sheriff who put him away. His gang of three arrived early to help their leader take out the sheriff.

Fully aware of why the bad men were in town, the sheriff could not arrest them because they had not broken any laws. Waiting is not illegal.

Desperate, the sheriff interrupted a church service to solicit help. After much debate, the ungrateful town folks declined. They even suggested the sheriff "get out of town" hoping the trouble would follow him. The sheriff contemplated their recommendation. He began saddling his horse, but something inside would not allow him to run away. Heroically, the sheriff faced the bad guys and won!

I thought of another strong, gutsy, bold, stand-on-principles hero, Sarah Palin, in her own modern day version of High Noon. Sheriff Palin rode into America Town on a white horse with conservative guns blazing and saved a dead McCain campaign. She brought hope to weary and battered conservative town folks and gave them a reason to vote.

Outlaw Obama and his posse, the hate filled liberal media/Democrat gang, came to town a gunnin' to politically eliminate Sheriff Palin. They ambushed her at Miss Katie Couric's CBS saloon. Though wounded numerous times, Sheriff Palin survived.

She bravely stood tall and rode high in the saddle while ungrateful, weak kneed Republican town folks ran for cover, hid in their homes and peeked nervously through the curtains.

Why are Obama and his gang so committed and desperate to destroy Palin? Could it be they recognize her destiny, like that of Moses, to set her people free? And why is she so despised by them? Obama's gang hate Palin for all the reasons we love her. Sheriff Palin is a good, decent and strong character driven conservative leader. Palin also believes in God. Such humility and virtues are as repulsive to liberals as showing Dracula the cross.

Something that sticks in the craw of many liberal women is that in their youth, they brought into the feminist rhetoric that women's liberation means no husband and family. Tragically, they find themselves aging and alone. Meanwhile, this conservative woman has it all: great career, fine family and a husband who loves and respects her. Adding insult in injury, Sheriff Palin looks mighty fine in her jeans.

Recently, the libs sent an old washed up gunslinger, the Letterman Kid, to challenge Sheriff Palin to a shoot out. Palin planted two bullets between the pathetic old dude's wrinkly eyes before he could un-holster his gun.

Despite Sheriff Palin's courage and willingness to fight, Obama and his posse rule America Town. They are in the process of taking over everything! Obama took over the livery stable and banned horses. While he and his posse continue riding horses, we town folks are forced to ride miniature ponies.

But in the spirit of what has made America Town great, an uprising is a brewin'. A huge conservative posse is building daily. Our first battle will be in 2010 to win back America Town's House and Senate. Then, in 2012, God willing and the creek don't rise, Sheriff Palin will lead us to victory in the battle of Little Big Washington DC. Years earlier, another great lawman cleaned up America Town, Sheriff Ronald Reagan.

After Sheriff Palin sweeps out the Obama gang, perhaps once again, we will be as what Sheriff Reagan affectionately called us, "a shining city on a hill".

The prospect of possibly going up against 0bama with someone as incapable as Sarah Palin scares me.

Wherever do you arrive at the conclusion Palin is "incapable".

Even though it is somewhat brief, her demonstrated executive ability is superior to most -- if not all -- American governor's and far exceeds Obama's.

What exactly has she done to demonstrate "incapability"? Except make Peggy Noonan and Kathleen Parker peevish...???

"McCain didn’t offer people a reason to vote for the ticket."

Oh yes he did....her name was Sarah.
You're right, and America said, "no thanks."

Would Michael Reagan’s embrace Sarah so much if she were a “dim bulb”?

I have heard Sarah speak plenty, I have no idea where your coming so unglued about her.

We’ve already seen what Palin is capable of, and she came up short.
About 10 million votes short, to be exact.

You're right, and America said, "no thanks."

It wasn't Sarah Palin to which people said "no" - it was the weak, left-centrist McCain that was objectionable. The GOP continues to self-destruct by trying to mimic the democRATs. McCain was the latest attempt.

He was a horrible candidate, whose only redeeming quality was that he wasn't Obama. Not enough people appreciated that trait (though many would now!).

That’s a bit of a logical fallacy, don’t you think?

Palin was on the ticket and she attracted less votes than 0bama.
That should already tell you something.

But wait, there’s more...
She also attracted less votes than George W. Bush...
And less votes than even John Kerry.

All Americans had a chance to pull the lever for her, and yet they passed up the opportunity by the millions.
You people can’t have it both ways.
Either people were voting for Palin, or they weren’t.

What happened to the rallying cry of “I’m voting for Sarah”?
Are you telling me now that Palin just couldn’t pull the votes in for McCain after all?
OK, then. So why then would we want a proven no-getter at the top of the ticket against the same person she couldn’t stop 4 years earlier?
It boggles the mind.

It seems the SarahBots are now resting their entire case on a flawed belief that Americans will rise up and vote AB0 (Anyone But 0bama) and if we stick Palin on the ticket, she will ride that wave of negative sentiment straight to the White House.
That strategy didn’t work for the Democrats in 2004, and it’s not going to work for Republicans in 2012.

Palin was the GOP presidential candidate in 2008?

How did I miss that?

Minus Palin, McCain would have been lucky to carry his home state. He was a dud. His vote for the first bailout sealed his fate - Jesus Christ could have been his running mate and he’d have lost after that major screwup.

Sarah Palin is a dim bulb. And you, of course, are the genius of the age. She’s less articulate than George Bush. So?

We can’t afford people who can’t form a coherent sentence anymore. Strange, most of the American people seem to understand her; even liberals who understand all too well what she says, and hate her for it: like you.

Palin fails the most basic requirement of a conservative leader: the ability to make an intelligent case for conservative solutions. She seems to be doing rather well being understood and agreed with with intelligent, honest-to-God real conservatives: a great deal better than you are doing with your Democratic Underground trolling.

When she said on national TV “No wonder young girls especially have such low self-esteem in America when we think it’s funny for a so-called comedian to get away with such a remark as he did,” that was the last straw for me. Can’t stand the truth, huh?

That is utter gibberish. One too many stumbling incoherent statements in a long line of stumbling incoherent statements from here. Incoherent? Too difficult for you to understand? Well, I guess those more-than-two syllable words can be rather confusing to low IQ people.

If conservatives can’t find ANYONE smarter than her (she) to carry the message, then it isn’t a message worth carrying. We may as well pack it in and admit we’re the STUPID PARTY once and for all.

I don’t care what she ‘represents’ if she can’t even form a grammatically correct sentence. The conservative cause was SETBACK by years because of George W. Bush’s inability to communicate. We didn’t progress under Bush. We need a communicator. If not a Great Communicator, at least an Adequate Communicator. Palin is not that person, and can never be that person.

If I were you, I would take several lessons in grammar before I criticized a person whom even half-literate liberals seem to understand perfectly. Or are you going to continue admitting to your clearly displayed stupidity?

My view of Romney is this: He couldn't defeat the weakest GOP candidate to run since Thomas Dewey. Why should we expect him to defeat the Democrat candidate?

“Stop digging” isn’t good enough.

No, it's just a rhetorical start. The rats are pushing for an expansion of entitlement programs. SCHIP was the latest iteration. This is populism/socialism unbound on the part of the rats. Who do you propose can stop it, let alone reverse it? BTW, Palin comes across as a natural orator.

Your hostility to Palin strikes me as personal. Your vehemence against her reminds me of Sarah Palin: Revenge of the Vagina (Monologues)

Are you a member of NOW or NARAL?

We don’t know who is going to be running in 2011/2012.
So I can’t tell you which candidate I think would be best.
I have said, however, in this very thread, no less, that I would like to see Newt Gingrich make a serious run.
He may be the candidate I would support.

But making predictions about 2011/2012 through the prism of 2008/2009 doesn’t make much sense.

What you are trying to do is make this an “either or” argument, much like the people who keep hoisting the Mitt Romney strawman.
But my point is not, and has not been that there is someone in particular who is better than Palin.
My point is simply that Palin is a guaranteed loser once you get out into the wider pool of general election voters.

Losing by 10 million votes is pretty massive.
That is not a deficit Palin could overcome in 4 years.
That is more votes than separated Reagan and Carter in 1980.
And when Mondale had the same electoral rematch against Reagan as the PalinBots want against 0bama, that margin did not shrink. It grew even more.

10 million votes is more votes than separated Bush Sr. and Dukakis. I could go on and on giving examples of just how huge the McCain-Palin defeat was. How when Dewey ran in an equally ill-conceived rematch against Truman in 1948, his vote share shrank, both as a percentage and in votes cast, just like Mondale. or how Adlai Stevenson met an identical fate of shrinking votes in his rematch against Eisenhower.

The one thing all rematches have in common is they do even worse the second time around.
Not one of them grew their vote totals or their percentage of the vote. All of them helped produce a veritable landslide for their rematch opponent. History has shown that it doesn’t matter if it’s a presidential candidate vs. a presidential candidate rematch, or a VP candidate vs. a presidential candidate rematch. The results always move in the same direction, down. Never up.

This is a wake-up call for all the PalinBots.
If we want to even have a chance of defeating 0bama, we’re going to have to find a new candidate to run against him.

.... as the defeated VP candidate on John McCain’s defeated presidential ticket, the mind numbed lemmings are gravitating to her, since they believe she is “next in line.”

She already lost against 0bama last year, and she will lose any rematch, too.

How did she lose? How does one lose an election in which she is not able to receive a single vote? Or didn't you know that in our system we DO NOT cast a vote for Vice President. Maybe you had better shut up -- you're making a total idiot of yourself with you twisted analyses and hysterical posturing.
