A real estate company whose owners have contributed heavily to Democratic causes apparently used articles and content on conservative blogs to justify bringing about pressure to shut down an Atlanta tea party protest scheduled for the Fourth of July an event that organizers estimated would attract 20,000 people.
The apparent plot was uncovered when blogger and radio talk show host Andrea Shea King noticed an unusual amount of traffic coming to her site earlier this month.
On Jun 16, Andrea Shea King emailed me, questioning a heavy burst of Sitemeter traffic coming from simon.com. She included screencaps of the traffic, two of which are reproduced below (click to enlarge).

Yes, but not on such short notice when 20K+ are expected. And when you add in a professional fireworks display the list narrows even more.
LOL! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing reading through all the comments suggesting someone’s private property be taken over without their permission.
David Simon, CEO and son and nephew of the founders, has contributed HEAVILY to Obama and Dems. Contributed much smaller amounts to both McCain and Clinton. Click on the link to see his contributions.

Since nobody thought of that maybe you should be in charge.
Or maybe read part of the thread before wasting time double posting.
Simon (SPG) says stock - not cash - for dividend
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The chief executive of mall operator Simon Property Group Inc. received 2008 compensation valued at about $5.4 million, a decrease of 3 percent from the previous year, according to Associated Press calculations of figures disclosed in a regulatory filing.
David Simon, 47, who also holds the title of chairman, received $1 million in base salary and an $810,000 bonus, according to a proxy statement filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Good heavens, just do what the left-wing slacker kids do...a flash mob or something. It’s a protest, not a face-painting, popcorn-n-cotton candy carnival.
“I’m so helpless crap” is why we conservatives get hosed.
Ooh I am in Indiana, well then I can just NOT participate in shopping at their malls, and help yall out!
You think THIS is bad, wait to see what the ‘Great Leader’ comes up with any gatherings in washington this Fourth of July.
My guess it will be made a ‘security issue’.
I suggest everyone send Simon Properties (”Tea Bags”)!
Instead of July 4th, move it to July 14th.
Don't count on someone else to do it, spread the word!
LET FREEDOM RING!
Your what hurts?
Yes, need to decide if it’s a RALLY, or a PROTEST. If it’s a rally to have fun, build morale, get more people on board conservative bandwagon, etc, then find another location (for example the Dallas Tea party will be outside of town at Southfork Ranch). IF it’s a protest, then it probably would make more sense to be at the location of what is being protested, i.e., downtown at government buildings, in front of local news affiliates, etc.
See the second link in #87. The company switched to paying dividends in stock rather than cash, yet retains the tax benefits of REIT’s. A partial quote: “there is a great deal of irritation over the firm’s arrogance and lack of concern for shareholders.” Other postings on this thread indicate that the Simon family will be receiving federal bailout money for the PACERS, that the son rec’d $1.8 million dollars as CEO, and that the whole family contributed heavily to the Zero campaign and to the inaugural parties. Anyway to get all of this info to the stockholders to encourage them to hold a coup??
My head because of people who post without reading details on a thread. Note, it is not just you as a lot of people are busy repeatedly posting what has already long since been answered on a thread.
better yet...contact the retailers who lease space in Simon malls and tell them that you are boycotting
that would make news wouldn’t it?
But then again that would confirm and outrage the democrats on the idea of “right wing extremists”
Bet that they would call the national guard out.
