The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world's most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia.....
Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."
The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome

I agree Obama is a type of the antiChrist. I am not convinced he is it.

I agree...I also think the Grail is more mythic than anything... similar to the Spear of Destiny...however, I do believe the Ark of the Covenant did exist...now do I think the Ethiopians have it? It’s possible...it will be interesting to see.

I thought it was in a vast Government warehouse. Warehouse 13 is, I believe, its new designation.

Some say the Ark is hidden under Calvery and The Lord Jesus Christs’ blood was dripped on the mercy seat at his Crucifixion.

IIRC, the Mahdi as a messianic figure is found only in Shi’a Islam and is disavowed by the Sunni majority who do not even regard Shiites as Muslim.
In Iran they are preparing for the return of the 12th or Hidden Iman (last seen in 960 A.D.) and as Shiites regard him as the final Mahdi.
As for the Ark of the Covenant, if it does appear in public, there will be cataclysmic physical manifestations, IMO.

Ethiopians believe it is destined to be delivered to the Messiah when He reigns on Mount Zion the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Mount Zion is not the Temple mount -- that is Mount Moriah. Zion is the next hill over to the west.

Reminds me of Geraldo and the safe he opened from what, the Titanic?
However, I hope the ark story is true.

Consider the shroud of Turin. There is not real, solid evidence it was the burial cloth of Jesus (just a lot of conjeture), but there are millions of people (including ones on this board) that are convinced beyond a doubt that it is.
Is this the ark? The Ethiopians believe it is. If they present even a half-way reasonable case, then I think that (like the shroud) it will be enough to cause millions of people to accept it as the ark.
It will certainly be interesting one way or another.
