John Boehner recommends this handy guide to the healthcare informercial from The Freedom Project.
A Guide to the President's Health Care Infomercial

Obama's Thinking 'Evolves' on Health Care Requirements

Acknowledging that his thinking on the issue has "evolved," President Barack Obama says he could support a law mandating that individuals purchase health care coverage, with fines for those who do not, but he stressed that there must be some kind of waiver for those who are simply unable to afford it. (snip)

During the election campaign, Obama said he was opposed to a federal law mandating the purchase of health care coverage.

That question is quite a good one, and 0’s answer was pathetic.

Talking about 46 million currently uninsured and Charles says there are not enough doctors if you add those as insured people. Obama talking about providing right incentives for people wanting to go to med school. Talking abuot getting nurses involved in more “effective ways” Talks of MA having an overload of patients in their system. Talks about increasing prevention. Basic policy speak but no details

Q. ER patient load is increasing because patients don’t have access to insurance or primary care. How are you going to put primary care physicians and nurse practioners back into the community so the ER is not American’s primary source of care?

A. We need more primary care physicians. We can’t do it overnight. We can change incentives around what it takes to become a physician. Specialisties are more lucrative than primary care physicians. Med school loans for students to go into specialities in order to repay their loans more quickly. May implement some loan forgiveness for students who go into primary care for a certain number of years.

From another blog: “I wonder if ObamaCare will provide the same quality customer service we have come to expect from the Department of Motor Vehicles?”

Obama thinks establishment of “cost effecrtive treatments” is off base,,someone needs to attack that. There is no such broad agreeemenbt on that and many treatments have never had double blind placebo studies,,which are very very expensive. Docs practice an “art” as well as a science.

He thinks prevention is king and it is not true.

He thinks nurses can do primary care,,hahahhaha.

Well, there you have it. The vanguard of the proletariat agrees that healthcare must be “fixed.”

TOTUS says: Fewer patients seen in the ER will free up doctors to see more patients in primary care, and to spend more time with each patient.

This makes no sense.

“I think that there needs to be a cap on malpractice. That would help decrease costs and is the main reason for the ‘quantity’.”

That is not likely to be discussed because this is a democrat lovefest. Had Republicans been able to respond, we would have heard about this.

Notice that everyone in the room raised their hand when asked if the system needed to be changed - an indication that 1) propaganda has been successful and that 2) the audience is not representative of the population as a whole.

We can’t do it overnight.

Then why are you trying to pass this overnight?

I wouldn’t care what Obama says. I don’t trust someone who won’t allow his ideas to be cross examined by legitimate opposition.

From what I’m reading here it sounds like there is no plan at all. Sounds like he’s just slinging a bunch of thoughts around. Is Gibson or anybody else calling him out on it?

People are ashamed to come out and say the system works for them,,they have to admit they work, make money, pay for it and are probably racist to boot.

I never thought I would see people so cowed.

The system needs tinkering, not changing.

Tort reform, loan forgiveness for doing a few years of work in a high need area, a charity system as in the old days.

Wait, I thought they already had the plan. If they don’t, then what the heck are they trying to sell tonight? Vaporware?

BTW, I am NOT watching.

Q. 46 million people are uninsured now. We can’t get an appointment now. How are we going to get appointments when those additional 46 million people are insured?

A. We need to provide incentives for doctors to go into primary care, reduce administrative paperwork, get nurses involved in more effective ways, increase prevention and wellness to reduce ER care to free up primary care physicians to see more patients.

How Soviet of him—he’s talking about a 5-year health plan!

How many doctors, what should we pay them, how many of what products and services to whom. It’ll be as easy as it’s been for him to run our financial services and auto industries!

correct.

My gestalt impression is he doesn’t answer so much as say “good question” and then proceeds to say “this is going to be hard and take time”. He is full of ideas but evades, doesn’t answer questions, is poor on details. He is all talk.
