6/23/2009 - ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin made a surprise visit to Sailors and personnel onboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) on Monday during the military joint-training exercise Northern Edge 2009.
The invitation came as a surprise for the governor, who jumped at the opportunity to visit U.S. service members and learn more about U.S. Navy operations.
"This is such an honor to be here," Palin said. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for my husband Todd and I to see an aircraft carrier in action, and see what its crew does to keep America safe."
During the visit, Palin toured the ship's facilities to include; flight deck takeoffs and landings, bridge operations, a tour of the hangar bay, and a meet and greet with Alaskan constituents.
"I'm enjoying this opportunity to meet the men and women of the ship," she said. "It's a chance to meet the people who have chosen to serve something greater and larger than themselves and a good time to say thank you."

mick,
Very perceptive. Have you noted any anomalies in the activities if other political persons who might be of like mind ?
On January 20, 2013, Sarah Palin will be this crew’s CIC.
She even looks good in goggles. What a woman!
Your post made me laugh. I’m glad your boss honored his promise.
mick, your post has given me hope today. Thanks.
BTTT!!!
Obama and he democrats know there is no way Obama can beat this woman in 2012. That is why they are on her all the time hoping she won’t run.
What do you suppose she has to learn?
That pic is going into my desktop rotation.
The next President of the United States (I hope)
It won't be long before the MSM catches up with the rest of America in realizing the world is a dangerous place. Just look at the type of questions Obama fielded yesterday. And whether some like it or not, the USA is shining beacon of hope and freedom to the rest of the world.
Yet, we have President Nero who is eating ice cream while the world around us is on fire.
Perception is everything.
And Sarah Palin, even in thanking the troops in the Letterman apology acceptance, is showing true leadership and giving credit to those who keep our country, and most of the world, safe. The more she appears like a CiC, the less it makes Obama seem presidential. The difference is, Sarah actually appreciates and loves the troops. It isn't staged. It is real.
And the timing is absolutely perfect.
Many here knock her, her staff, etc., but there is a level of subtle brilliance going on in what we're seeing with her. Its enough to make the MSM and liberals continue to target. They view her as the real threat. Sarah? She knows the world we live in, especially with the state she governs in the cross hairs of a North Korean madman.
Meanwhile, somewhere in DC, there's an ice cream cone waiting for President Nero.
Damnation! This lady NEVER takes a bad photo, ever! It comes from INSIDE, like many of you say. Even the pregnancy photo is good in a different sort of way, maybe because we know it’s SARAH!!
Talk about a fan club, lordy! Do many of you find yourselves grinning from ear to ear at photos of her?? Surely, I’m not the only one, my wife says that she knows who I’m looking at when she comes in and I’ve got a wall to wall grin, but she knows I’m just a harmless ol’ man...
Awesome story and pictures! Thanks.
I read somewhere else Dick Morris mentioned on Hannity’s show that 9 or 11 missile interceptors have been removed from Alaska. I didn’t see the show, however. Does anyone else know if this is true and if so, if they’ve been moved to Hawaii or just removed completely?
Cue 80s hair-metal music in post #18
Hey honey, let me show you my rack down in Chief’s berthing!
How about foreign policy? She would probably be the first to admit she has much to learn. Or do you think she already has full grasp of every issue foreign and domestic and simply has to campaign and magically she will be elected? I’m a huge Sarah fan so you`re barking up the wrong tree. Your question shows a hell of a lot of naievety unless I am somehow missing your point.
Thanks, lots of good points there.
