6/23/2009 - ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin made a surprise visit to Sailors and personnel onboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) on Monday during the military joint-training exercise Northern Edge 2009.
The invitation came as a surprise for the governor, who jumped at the opportunity to visit U.S. service members and learn more about U.S. Navy operations.
"This is such an honor to be here," Palin said. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for my husband Todd and I to see an aircraft carrier in action, and see what its crew does to keep America safe."
During the visit, Palin toured the ship's facilities to include; flight deck takeoffs and landings, bridge operations, a tour of the hangar bay, and a meet and greet with Alaskan constituents.
"I'm enjoying this opportunity to meet the men and women of the ship," she said. "It's a chance to meet the people who have chosen to serve something greater and larger than themselves and a good time to say thank you."

But as I once told an old boss of mine who wasn’t able to pay me what I was worth at the time and he told me “You’ll get it in the end.” I told him “Heck - I’m getting it in the end already!”

Anybody have any thoughts on whether it’s best for her to A) Run again for Guv in 2010 or B) take the 2 years to go abroad, learn up etc before 2012?

Looks like the folks on the Stennis were anxious to welcome Todd and the Guv aboard. Admiral Vance, Strike Group Commander, rode over to Elmendorf on the Greyhound to personally escort her out to the ship.
They know a leader when they see one.
