Gee, good thing he didn’t do anything wrong, huh? He might have had to write how bad he was on the blackboard about 20 times.
“... was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation and anger management classes”
Test him for steroid abuse.
Yet another travesty. This was a felony and it should have been several years in jail. I suppose he is to be reinstated to the Police Force as well.
Way harsh sentence. Way harsh. /s
Chicago justice, at its best.
Guy should be doing hard time in general population.
Professional courtesy.
He should lose his job and his gun. If it were you and me (and we’re not cops), don’t you think Mother Government would throw the book at us?
Yep TCats,
I bet you are right.
And the cops there will know they have get out of jail card any time they want.
Heck! The Scumbag should never touch a Badge again and spend 10 Years in Prison as some Goon’s wife! That was nothing less than Attempted Murder and Atrocious Assault and Battery on Video Tape. If the Bartender wasn’t a white woman, he woulda gotten LIFE!
Another a$$-hole judge who just doesn't get it! You don't imprison people to try to get OTHERS to change their behavior, you imprison people to punish THEM and try to get THEM to change their behavior.
Bottom line: Sentencing Anthonty Abbate to prison would stop Anthony Abbate from getting drunk and hitting female bar-teners who are less than half his size. And THAT is all that matters.
They knew that, a long time ago.
... or even bar-TENDERS...

This video shows the Chicago Cops covering up for him. If this is just one cop, why is the whole department covering for him?
This Cop should have lost his job.In Connecticut he would Not be allowed to carry a handgun on duty or off.
Here's another judge that just doesn't get it. Justice, and the application of a sentence that includes incarceration, isn't about preventing crime (although sometimes that is a nice bonus), it's about making restitution to the victim and punishing the perpetrator.
In this case, the victim is a bar-tender who's literally about a third of the size of her assailant and who suffered a severe trauma. And, the assailant is a duly-sworn officer of the law who violated not just the law he's sworn to uphold, but his oath as well. If those are not aggravating,/i> circumstances, I'm not sure what is.
If for no other reason (and there doesn't need to be one), this creep should have been in jail for at least six months, perhaps a year thinking about the trauma he caused this woman.
tick-tock..... (Remaining comment self-censored)!!!!!
Exactly. Another cop gets away with murder (or attempted murder) for doing something that would put a civilian behind bars for a LONG time.
Another judicial travesty favoring the thugs with badges.
Exactly. Which is why "good" cops are rare, IMO.
