ALBANY Senate Democrats entered the Senate chamber through a back hallway on Tuesday afternoon and locked themselves in, pulling off a sneak attack of sorts in the ongoing battle for control of the State Senate.
The move took the Capitol by surprise, and left Republicans scrambling to plan their next procedural move. Republicans had planned to enter the chamber at 2 p.m. an hour before the special session called by Gov. David A. Paterson was scheduled to begin. Who would be in the chamber first became a key question on Tuesday as Republicans and Democrats failed again to reach a compromise over the disputed Senate leadership.
At this point, they refuse to enter into an operating agreement, Senator Eric T. Schneiderman, a Democrat who represents the Upper West Side, told reporters just before he and his fellow Democrats sneaked into the chamber. We hope that they will come back to the table, and that well be able to agree on rules. Our view is that we cannot ignore the peoples business that the governor is calling us back to do.
Republicans seemed just as caught off guard as the rest of the Capitol. And as news of the Democrats move spread, some Republican staff members rushed to the Senate chamber and peered in through the windows to watch the Democrats congregating inside.

I’m going to hold my breath until I get my way.......
New York State has become a banana republic.
Next up: threaten to hold their breath until they turn blue...
What babies
LOL! I love it.
Freakin children.
Let’s see democRat Legisators in Texas ran off to OK and NM. Now New York Rat Legislators locked everyone else out of the capitol.
Real inclusive bunches these rats.
That will get them votes in the next election.
QUICK! Throw away the key!
Can’t someone just take the hinges off the locked door and then enter en masse?
OK. Have the building staff lock the Rats IN the Senate Chamber...and that includes locking them OUT of the bathrooms. Do that and this little tantrum will end very quickly...

My home state has been a banana republic since about 1990.
Fine, throw a padlock on the outside of the door and call it a day.
Now here is a legitimate use of C-4...
This is like junior high....
This is hardly news.
The New York legislature has been run like a Fiefdom for well over a hundred years.
Once leadership and rules are decided on most of the Senators will go home and collect their pay checks.
If you are not in the Senate to vote you are assumed to vote with the leadership. No need to be there.
Wow, tempter tantrum writ large.
Not with out a union card!
seriously though, i love how the rats are using the old 'i'm taking my ball and going home' strategy.
yes...yes it will in their ‘progressive’ districts.
