Whatever else former president George W. Bush got wrong, he was right about this at least: "The world has a clear interest in the spread of democratic values, because stable and free nations do not breed the ideologies of murder." (Speech to American Enterprise Institute, February 2003.) That is, foster liberty in the worlds most oppressive countries and watch the axis of evil bend, then break.
Look at Iran today.
True, the burden of proof is on anybody who wants to attribute a passion for liberty to Tehrans crowds. At one point, more than a million people were thought to be out disputing the announced result of their countrys election, which against all likelihood and expectation, handed power to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for another four years. Thats a lot of people demanding, "Wheres my vote?"
But, it could be about the economic shambles. Inflation is high, so is unemployment. Iran exports oil, but must import gasoline.
Ahmadinejad wasnt running on his record.
Or, they might just really prefer defeated candidate Mir Hussein Mousavi, who presents as sane, while Ahmadinejad is inflammatory and given to apocalyptic visions. (Ahmadinejad reportedly describes to friends how when he spoke at the UN in 2005, he was surrounded by an aura of divine green light: Just as some Christians are no less faithful for finding an unloving televangelist a bit much, so we shouldnt assume Iranian Muslims are all as keen as Ahmadinejad, to welcome the 12th imam and usher in historys end .)
Then, theres the Israeli perspective that none of it matters. Consul General Amir Gissin gloomily commented in Calgary last week that both Ahmadinejad and Mousavi needed approval from Irans governing clerical council before running.

Mr. Obama isn't fit to shine President Bush's shoes, much less President Reagan's or Kennedy's. All three were serious men with a sense of duty and love of country, no matter what their mistakes might have been. Now, we have a "rock star" in the White House just in time for World War III!!
My understanding is that most of these kids are communists. Just because they oppose Ahmadinejad, does not mean they are our friends.
They most definitely are not out friends. The Iranians are drama queens. They love a good demonstration no matter what the cause. Remember the Allatoha’s funeral and they were bouncing him around like a beach ball?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We fought beside communist armies in World War II against Hitler and Tojo.
Sure do. I've also heard spokesbabes wailing about "thousands slaughtered in the streets." The mullahs may be bad, but they aren't there yet.
I've known a fair number of Persians. Most of them were pretty decent as long as they stuck to business. There's just something really nasty about Islamists, where just about nothing sets them bouncing off the walls.
I find it ironic that a million people stand to fight with rocks and sticks in hopes of gaining their freedom, while nearly 400 million of us, do near nothing.... to keep ours.
And it was an evil piece of skullduggery by a bunch of commies in the Roosevelt administration that has cost us trillions, and may yet cost us our freedom considering who we have in the White House.
Had we played it right, Hitler would have taken out the Russians, getting their army stuck in Siberia while we came in behind. Instead that alliance enslaved over a hundred million for fifty years.
Especially when we’re armed-to-the-teeth and most of our military is overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, the Balkans, etc. Exactly who would this administration use to quell disturbances? The New Black Panthers? It is to laugh!! Any FFA chapter with their .22’s and 20 gauges would send those suckas running!
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend. “
Not necessarily.
Rembember Tiarhan, we will be like them soon but some of us will have guns.

Obama toilet roll in a KFC type bucket box.

Hi-Point C9 9mm pistol. About $130, brand new with a lifetime, transferable warranty! Also comes in .380, .40 S&W and .45 and carbines. What's everyone's excuse now for not being armed?
Loved the comments on that page.......... we bash The Magic Mulatto and it’s racism, they bash Bush and it’s patriotism.
Idiots.......their games won’t play with me .
Loved the idea for the bucket.....may have to print up some hope and change kenyan kommunist crap, snag a bucket of KFC tomorrow and do a little art work of my own later this weekend.........:o)
Thanks for the funny Fish !
Don’t forget that zero wants an in country security force “just as strong, just as well funded” as the US military. And the worshippers mindlessly cheered when he made this pronouncement....
Sheeshhhh...finally someone who gets it!!
These guys are the same one who tomorrow or yesterday were dancing in the streets of Teheran after September 11th - they are the same crowd who wants the death to all jews - they are the same crowd who shouts Death to America - same crowd who rally, full of hatred after a Danish cartoon!
The only difference today is tat the are upset after their own...too bad...when Bush was President, they could not insult him enough - could not spit on and burn the American flag enough...now they need our help??? Ain’t gotta get it with Obama - and guess what: tomorrow they will shout Death to America again - and death to Israel again.
What opportunity? What will they be against tomorrow? Planning to kill another 3000 Americans?
Oh...if this is true, then I apologize for my harsh reaction :-)
Islam is not compatible with democracy. Islam means ‘submission’... first to Allah, satan in disguise, and then to the ruling mullahs or imams. Sadly, this Iranian uprise will end up with the same result... submission.
