The Obama White House cannot explain more than half of today's announced $80 billion in prescription drug savings.

A senior official said the White House estimates $30 billion in savings will be achieved through drug companies reducing by at least 50 percent the cost of brand-name prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries who fall into the so-called coverage "donut hole."

This aspect of the drug maker arrangement with the White House will not save the government any money -- all savings will accrue to the seniors in the "donut hole." According to a Kaiser Foundation study in 2008, about 500,000 Medicare beneficiaries -- or 15 percent -- stop using their prescription drugs when they fell into the "donut hole."

So he is basically negotiating private contracts now? These "donut hole" payments are paid by the seniors buying the drugs. This is ridiculous. Deal with national issues, not with private contracts.

And if the seniors are getting a “special deal” then everybody else is stuck paying more to compensate for the lost profits.

Obama just pulls these numbers out his ass because he knows the mainstream media will not call him on it.

The financial press has become just like the regular press.
They buried this news today. Go to google news and see if its easy to find. Regarding believing anything the press says these days....caveat emptor.

The last time Senator Bird said he had a waste fraud and abuse savings of 20 billion, he spent 22 billion. May he soon rest in piece.

Oh my God! Whenever you see nice, even, easily-digestible figures like 500,000 & 15 % you know there is a lot of BS being put forward.

Doughnut holes?.... Doughnut holes?

Really?

Obama should be the last person to ever want to talk about doughnut holes. Since he’s the biggest one America’s ever elected.

Sheesh! These idiots amaze me.

Step 1: Collect underwear.

Step 2: ?????

The prophets Parker and Stone foretold of this sort of philosophy many years ago...

Wouldn't it be easier to shop at Walmart and get your Prescriptions for four bucks? Wonder if Obama ever set foot in a Walmart.

Which reminds me, what ever happened to the old woman that Al Gore hugged at the Debate who said she had to collect aluminum cans to buy her prescription drugs?

You know, the one with the Millionaire Son. She refused to take any help from her Son because she thought it was the Government's responsibility.

Because the White House is full of bullsquat and bullsquaters.

Obama is so full of it - he has darkened three shades since election.

Typical Barry Administration math: overhyped and overinflated, along the same lines as 2 + 2 = 5.

So obama pulls the numbers out of a hat again? Like the number of new jobs he created by himself since taking office?
