A THREE-year-old girl has been beheaded in Papua New Guinea in an attack thought to be over a land dispute.
Police made the shocking discovery yesterday in Madang province, on PNG's northeastern coast, after residents reported that up to seven men had abducted the girl from the coastal village of Bogia.
Four men have been arrested over her killing.
The police commander of Madang province, Chief Inspector Anthony Wagambie, told PNG's The National newspaper that he was "disgusted'' by the gruesome killing, which he he said was linked to tensions over land.
"Police will continue investigations until all seven suspects are apprehended,'' he said.

Here in America, we usually settle for yelling “Get off muh law, ya darned kids!”
3 year old beheaded because two groups disagreed over a parcel of land. No logic here.
Lemme guess...muslimes?
"The murder is believed to be connected to conflict between resettled Manam islanders and Bogia locals."
So what is the penalty for murder in Papua New Guinea?
your backyard BUMP
The guilty ones should be beheaded.
What is the controversy, all cultures are equal, aren’t they? Remember we can’t judge others based on their culture.
Prayers for this child.
I did a little looking around and found this article from 2005:
Marian Hobbs13 July, 2005
NZ assists volcano-affected Manam Islanders
Aid Minister Marian Hobbs today announced a strengthening of the partnership between New Zealands international aid and development agency, NZAID and World Vision PNG, which is providing much-needed food aid for almost 10,000 Manam Islanders made homeless by recent volcanic activity.
“Since December we have been working with World Vision to assist those affected by the eruptions,” Marian Hobbs said. “I have recently approved additional funding of $750,000 which will take New Zealands contribution so far to around $1 million. “
Manam Island is a volcanic island 15 km off the coast of PNG that began erupting in October 2004. With continued eruptions, the entire population of Manam was evacuated to the mainland in December. They are currently housed in temporary care centres along the northeast coast of PNG.
“People who are evacuated under these sort of circumstances face many difficulties, as there is little time to prepare or adjust,” Marian Hobbs said. “Those evacuated from Manam Island have no established land or fishing rights on the mainland, so the ability to provide their own food is limited. Symptoms of malnutrition are evident, especially among the children. The provision of a nutritional diet is important.
Ummm...no.
From the CIA World Factbook, Papua New Guinea's religions breakdown is:
Roman Catholic 27%, Evangelical Lutheran 19.5%, United Church 11.5%, Seventh-Day Adventist 10%, Pentecostal 8.6%, Evangelical Alliance 5.2%, Anglican 3.2%, Baptist 2.5%, other Protestant 8.9%, Bahai 0.3%, indigenous beliefs and other 3.3% (2000 census)
In PNG? Probably not. The PNG tribes historically have been animists and cannibals. This is too unfortunately a normal behavior for them.
Thanks. Unfortunately, these types of power-struggle murders are not uncommon. There was a college student, female, murdered here about three weeks ago. The motive hasn’t yet been determined but it may also have been a land dispute.
Poor baby. May she RIP.
Perhaps, but they support transparency like GIFs while displayinng excellent quality under compression like JPGs. And there is an easy solution to the IE6 PNG bug, although you still can't use them as CSS background images in IE6.
LOL!
