WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama in an interview broadcast Monday acknowledged a "deep disagreement" with the previous administration on national security matters, following recent sharp criticism from ex-vice president Dick Cheney.

"I think when it comes to vice president Cheney, he and I have a deep disagreement about what's required to keep the American people safe," Obama said in recorded interview broadcast on CBS television.

"I think that disagreement has been amply aired and certainly he has a right to voice his opinions. I would argue that our policies are making the American people safer, and that some of the policies that he's promoted in the past have not," Obama said.

The US leader's remarks were the latest salvo in a bitter back-and-forth between the current and former administrations, ..

...

Finally, Bush himself weighed in last week, with his own criticism of Obama's anti-terror policies.

"There are people at Gitmo that will kill American people at a drop of a hat," the former US leader said in a visit to the northeastern state of Pennsylvania.

"Therapy isn't going to cause terrorists to change their mind."

No worries. zerO is “probably” just as competent at protecting America from attack as he is at running the economy ... we get to see the results of his judgement and leadership every single day, don’t we.

zero’s policy to keep us safe seems to be to turn us into a broke disarmed third world communist country not worthy of an attack.

Fact is, we stayed safe under Cheney's watch.

We can only pray that perfect record continues with someone whose only experience is giving speeches at the helm.

Earth to the OBamaloon: To have “deep disagreements,” one just first have an intellect with which one can process these disagreements.

Since you, Mr Obamaloon, have demonstrated no capacity for 1) learning, 2) intellect, or 3) any sort of sense of history, you are uniquely qualified to do exactly nothing.

Go away. Now. Far far away. To another galaxy.

Groveling before the enemy while begging for forgiveness will not make us safer, Zero. On the contrary, it will get more Americans killed because our enemies now smell blood in the water and weakness in our character.

Cheney is right and you, president zero, are WRONG!

Yeah well, he also had deep disagreements with all those “tried and failed” free market ideas of the past, and look where that got us. New is not always better; youthful exuberance rarely trumps an experienced worldview; and voting for the black guy just because he’s black makes you little more than a well-meaning racist.

One of the two, Cheney or Obama, is right, but they both cannot be.

My money’s on Cheney.

Is Hussein Obammy the most naive penis head that’s ever been POTUS or is that Jimmah Cahtah?

Both a couple of treasonous, anti-American maroons.

Yet since zero’s been in charge we’ve been attacked by pirates, have had a terrorist attack and kill one of our own troops on the mainland, and are now waiting to see if North Korea will bomb Hawaii on the 4th of July.

Right, I feel mush safer now. /sarc

I think zero wants Hawaii to be bombed so that he can claim that his birth certificate was destroyed!

We stayed safe on Cheney’s watch? Would that include 9/11 - or is that day just skipped over by Bush supporters?

And yet, under Bush we suffered the worst terror attack in history - and yet that never dented your enthusiasm for the idiot....
