TEHRAN: The daughter of Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and four relatives were arrested over their involvement in protests against alleged election fraud in Iran, the Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
Faezeh Hashemi, a renowned women's rights activist, former parliament deputy and head of women sports in Iran, has in the recent years emerged, like her father, as one of the main opponents of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad had before the June 12 election accused Rafsanjani and his children of corruption.
Fars said that Faezeh, her daughter and three other relatives were arrested during Saturday's
This fathers day remember are soldiers overseas and our Iranian friends, the father of Nena whom watched as as his daughter was shot and died in front of him.

He holds the position of Chairman of the Assembly of Experts (a deliberative body of Mujtahids that is charged with electing, monitoring, and dismissing the Supreme Leader of Iran) and Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran (an unelected administrative assembly that resolves legislative conflicts between the Majlis and the Council of Guardians).
It's like Obama jailing the Senate leadership. This is a big deal.
The arrest of Rafsanjanis is regime internal power struggle. They can take out each other as they please.
My prayers, worries and support go to the Iranians on the street and their families, like Neda (RIP) and her father.
Sorry Neda not Nena.
Do you think that the National Organization of Women in the US will even take notice? My guess is that they would rather whine about the supposed “horrible oppression of women” in the US.
I suspect this will lead to more anger and a bigger divide in Iran. Strikes and sabotage may come next.
Civil war in Iran has started.
If it is in Rafsanjanis ability, he will makee those who ordered and caused this, to pay as dear a price as he can...and considering how many bodies he knows where they are buried, after all these years...It could be a very dear price indeed.
A VERY big deal.
Meanwhile, back at the White House...it’s Father’s Day and the Big Jerk is probably out golfing.
It's been percolating for a long time now.
I don't think they really much care about Mousavi. They just needed a catalyst...and the blatant election fraud was their opportunity.
not a very good move....the regime must be feeling VERY threatened.
They are acting like Libs===eating their own.
BTW..I wish we could send Bill Ayers, REv Wright and Code Pink over there to see what a real revolution costs!
Yes, they’d be very helpful, I’m sure.
Piss be upon the lot of 'em.
They tried the Ghandi approach, and now starting to realize that it only works against an opponent who possesses decency and a conscience.
Against a ruthless opponent with an efficient secret police organization, a more workable solution involves leaderless resistance and techniques from the Battle of Algiers
Of course, Ayers..who calls the POH-lice when a reproter comes to his townhouse...would ask for security while he gives his lecture and code Pink girls would have to make some Pink Chudras, or whatever it is the Islam orthodox head to toe covering is.
“the Big Jerk is probably out golfing.”
And,,, drawing flies! He stinks! His wife said so. He’s had lots of practice swatting the flies that circle his swollen noggin!
Hi Sweetie civil war will be visiting s here in the states soon imho
Well, I'm planning to come home 'round the end of the year. Can y'all have it wrapped up by then?
I got kind of burnt out on war a couple of years ago. ;-)
I have always thought the Iranians were the most decent, smartest and most independent thinkers in the Middle East (not counting the Israelis)
I hope that this heralds change for them, and not the kind of change that Obama has in store for us.
