Her name was Neda, which means “voice” in Farsi. According to numerous online accounts picked up by media outlets worldwide, she was shot in the streets by Iranian state police while protesting today. This is what repression looks (warning: graphic):

it would suck the life (perhaps literally) out of him and the protestors

"We can't react when innocent women are being gunned down. The mullahs might get angry and hurt someone."

Nice try, Jimmuh.

The Iranian people have to deal with this themselves; they have to realize there is no future in primitive-mindedness and superstition.

That's what they're DOING, if you hadn't noticed.

You need to be posting these sentiments on DU, in hopes of converting Obama supporters to embrace capitalism instead of flying unicorns.

Cheers!

Like I (and Pat Buchanan!!) said before, if Zero gave over the top support for Mousavi, it would suck the life (perhaps literally) out of him and the protestors; it would make them look like American stooges.

Yeah, America should never be seen as promoting freedom.

The Iranian people have to deal with this themselves; they have to realize there is no future in primitive-mindedness and superstition.

As they are crushed by their gov't, our enemy and you want to sit on your hands (fins). The worst kind of wimp.

Thank You. The juxtaposition of these photos shows the fool as the lightweight hs is...in every aspect except personal image manipulation. And it shows the state run lapdog US media as the slobbering buffoons they have become when they abandoned journalism for propaganda..

Whatever guy. I just notice your utter lack of consistency. You tell everyone the founders wouldnt even care at at all about anything happening in Iran, that we should not try to influence their internal politics. Then in the next sentence you say if Obama said any words of support, it would hurt the opposition. So which is it,, are you against influencing their politics or not?

Next you say the photo of that young woman is political porn that has no place in a conservative webpage,,, then your next sentence is a discussion on oboma “taking a piss”. So what is it guy,, we must be dignified, or we must discuss piss.

And now you are trying to argue that Pat Buchannon isnt a jew hater?
Maybe you could go start a Ron Paul conservative site where you’d be happier.

Apparently someone has stolen Obama’s voice. Where is the statement projecting American values in support to liberty, freedom, and right to choose their destiny? We know the current leadership in Iran is abusive and tyrannical. So, Obama should be open to supporting the revolution. Obama is luke warm milk...

Persia is neither primitive nor “half civilized”

The shah was not overthrown because of fears of “modernization”, though it may have been used as a cover term for fears of encroachment of foreign culture. In 1978 another American President voted “not present” when it came to responding to the turmoil in Iran.

But the shia theocracy and its playing to primitive emotion has cost two generations of Iranians their chance to advance in the modern world. The tide is now bigger than they can hold back, imho.

Since when does a lib give a crap about what is in the Constitution? The Constitution doesn't bar acting in this nation's interest against an enemy state. Take your Obama justifying cheerleading away to DU moby, it sickens the real Americans here as does your lack of sand.

No, not porn. It may not be important to you that somewhere in the world right this minute a gummint is killing it's own citizens randomly for the "crime" of standing in the street but it is important. Sure it may be happening in Sudan or somewhere else as well but this is different. The gummint of Iran WASN'T doing this just 2 weeks ago and now it is. Also there is a chance however slight of the folks demanding redress that they will not be satisfied with what they were demanding in the beginning after having shed sacrificial blood.

Of course we will have to see and it may well be that this young girl's death was trivial and wasted and in the end nothing will change but the chance that something better will follow is there and can't be denied. I heard someone say something I have never heard the other day and it haunts me. He said that only America (and 200 year ago western europe) had ever produced a John Adams. The things that had to happen prior to his birth that were all in place to produce a man like him has never happened in Africa, or India, or China, or Asia. I suspect that this is true and why Bush got burned in Iraq. Many of us hoped (I did) and apparrently Bush did, that liberating Iraq would be like liberating France had been decades earlier. Could it be the reason things didn't work out was because there had never been an Asian John Adams? It may be that right now, in Iran, conditions are right for the first time for a Sam Adams to arise. To help give birth to an idea that may not have ever been planted in that soil. It may be that for the first time "The Tree of Liberty" has found a place there where a small cutting can take root. We will have to see. I did see one thing in a video that raised my eyebrows. One of the young men running down the stereet was wearing a T-shirt with a Cross on the back. I suppose there are Christians there and it made my heart a little glad to see him. It also gave me some improved opinion of his peers. He certainly didn't seem to fear them in this bold display of faith. We will have to see what unfolds but it won't stop me praying for them and perhaps seeing history made as an "Asian Sam Adams" is "born". Who knows, in two years Iran may be the place so many of us have been talking about when we said, "If there was anyplace where my rights would be respected as America declines I would go there!" Who knows, it may be. We will have to see. It strikes me an "Asian Sam Adams" would encourage it and in so doing strengthen his own country's future. Sort of a Persian Galt's Gulch. We will have to see.

We're adults. The other poster isn't.

The poster has made some valid arguments, regardless of what his age or maturity level is.

You realize that Mousavi is nothing more than a kinder and gentler Ahmadinejad right.
