Her name was Neda, which means voice in Farsi. According to numerous online accounts picked up by media outlets worldwide, she was shot in the streets by Iranian state police while protesting today. This is what repression looks (warning: graphic):

“Franklin’s negotiations, and the victory at Saratoga”*
Which we won without ANY French help. Like I said, France was bringing treats to the party when it was already winding down. As for my alleged lack of knowledge about history, you can go to hell.

Hon, I never, ever, said the "kids" in Iran taking to the street were wrong. Twisting facts will get you nowhere in a hurry.

Why, because she was anti-Zionist? When so many members of our movement insist on putting on the kneepads for Israel, it makes me worry greatly about the future of conservatism.

You said Yorktown, now you're saying Saratoga. Four years is forever in a war. And that begs the question of the Caribbean campaign. I'd say my assessment of your historical knowledge was spot on.
And I'm not going to hell on your or anyone else's say-so, and certainly not for telling the truth about your education or lack thereof.

Is there anything you'd like to, you know, get off your chest?

Hon, the Caribbean Campaign was being waged for France's benefit, not the United States'. And keep in mind French Admiral de Grasse's fleet was eventually destroyed by the British in the Caribbean! Google "Battle of the Saints" (1/1781) and you'll learn the truth.

Nothing to do with homosexuality. Really it is the whorish behavior of so many who fancy themselves “conservatives” towards Israeli interests which is so disturbing.

Don't forget, the Shah was overthrown because he wanted to modernize Iran, and the Iranian public was horrified at the very thought of modernity. What we have now was created by the left.
The left will do anything to undermine that which is truly progressive and good.
What irony.

The scumbags who interfered in Iraq with EFPs, mortars and rockets are the very ones the Iranian people are rising up against. So true, so true.

It's "Saintes", at least get your facts straight. And it didn't matter after the Second Battle of the Capes.
And it was Rodney in command at Dominica (with revolutionary tactics that would be followed up by Lord Nelson), not that bungler Graves.
And in the larger picture (as somebody already pointed out to you up thread, but maybe you need it spelled out again), there was never an ally yet that didn't see something in it for itself. The French operations in the Caribbean (as well as in India, South America, and Africa) kept a good portion of the Royal Navy preoccupied and men and materiel committed elsewhere. It also kept the trade lifelines to America open - the attempted British blockade failed.
The French made the American Revolution a global war, to Britain's disadvantage. I don't hold any brief for them, but I can acknowledge their just due.

Franklins negotiations, and the victory at Saratoga*Which we won without ANY French help.
Tell me again, how we won Franklin's negotiations without any French help.
Can you point me to an order of battle for Saratoga, with the disposition and location of the nearest Continental, British, Hessian, Indian, and French troops? How about their supply lines?
As for my alleged lack of knowledge about history, you can go to hell.
Back it up. What classes have you attended on history, from which University? What were your grades?
Name the last three books you have read on history, how long ago you read them, and who were their authors?
(Hint: strategic geopolitical considerations often involve more than direct military assistance: but sometimes, even the *possibility* of forthcoming assistance changes the calculus for the other players. This is why "statements" and "declarations" matter. Given that we have a (battle-tested) force in theatre in Iraq, and remain a superpower, Iran has to be looking nervously at what we *could* do. (If they couldn't defeat Iraq in eight years, while we went through Iraq's army like wet Kleenex, how hard would it be for us to take out the Mullahs -- they don't care about chaos in the country for its own sake, after we've removed them or killed them, you know.)
And the presence of the counter-demonstrators, and the remarks of some of the oppressors (as in a href="http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2276243/posts">this thread ("I have children, I have a wife, I dont want to beat people. Please go home.), show that there is not the market for the same counter-insurgency as in Iraq: indeed, Iran is the *source* of many of the Iraq "insurgents" -- if their home base is destroyed, what do they do?
Nice try though.
Cheers!
