EXCLUSIVE:
Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she's so worried that information from next year's national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.

just say no....
I am kind of surprised that a federal official would say that she won’t fully answer all census questions. But I agree with her that this ACORN takeover of the census is wrong. I wish something could be done about that.
We all know what is going to happen. ACORN will over estimate a bit here and there how many people live on the South Side of Chicago, East LA, Harlem, etc. They will use the statistical sampling to up the numbers of people officially reported by the census in favored regions.
Politically, it could add electoral votes to states such as New York, Illinois, and Calif, all of which are big states which expect to vote for Obama again in 2012.
Some gov’t activity should be non-political, and the census is definitely one of those.
When the Census people come to my house I’m going to tell them that whatever Obama said when they asked for his proof of Birth Certificate..........that’s what I say also about your Census.
When I see Obama’s Birth Certificate - I’ll answer your questions ...........until then .......Please get off my property.

We’ve never had census takers come to our house.
That’s what I wanted to do also, but a lawyer on our local talker said that there’s some law that unless you answer ALL questions on a census form you can be fined $5,000 so I looked it up on www.census.gov.
Do I have to answer the ACS questions?
Yes. Response to this survey is required by law (Section 221 of Title 13). Respondents are required to answer all questions on the ACS to the best of their ability. Your answers are very important because they represent the answers of many other similar households in your community. The data that you and others provide in response to this survey are required to manage or evaluate federal and state government programs. If you submit an incomplete form or provide data that are unclear, the Census Bureau may contact you by phone or in person to obtain or clarify the missing information.
Then they go on to say:
What are the penalties if I do not respond to the survey?
Both Title 13 and Title 18, United States Code, provide for monetary penalties for failure to respond. Title 18, U.S.C., Section 3551, et seq., the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, establishes uniform penalties for all federal crimes. Title 13 U.S.C., Section 221, makes it a misdemeanor to refuse or willfully neglect to complete the questionnaire or answer questions posed by census takers and imposes a fine of not more than $100. This fine is changed by the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 from $100 to not more than $5,000. The Census Bureau is not a prosecuting agency. Failure to provide information is not likely to result in a fine. The Census Bureau staff work to achieve cooperation and high response rates by helping the public understand that responding to the ACS is a matter of civic responsibility, and prefers to encourage participation in this manner rather than prosecution.
Yeah, I just BET dumb0 won’t take the chance to collect yet more $$$ for the gov’t.
I gotta tell you I’m damn tired of the expanding Federal Government rectal exam. I’m telling the Census what is Constitutionally required. My next call is to Levin’s law firm.
I did this in 1990 when they sent me the long form of the census to fill out. I filled out only the information necessary for the allocation of votes for my area which is the basis for the census in the constitution.
I got a call at work from one of the nicest people I ever talked to who informed me that I didn’t fill out my census form. I told him that I filled out that portion of the form that satisfied the intent of the census, and that, respectfully, that was all I was going to fill out. I told him that I was prepared for the possible consequences of refusing to fill out questions like what kind of movies I went to see and the like. I asked him why the census bureau was asking these kinds of questions. He said the purpose was that if they got more money from Congress, this information would tell them where to apply it. I asked him what his party affiliation was, given what he was saying. Bet I don’t have to tell you what his answer was.
We talked for about 10 minutes after that about things. In the end, he said he kind of agreed with my position on the purpose of the census. I wonder to this day if I won one over!
Hey,what about an OMB#?Does the census form have one?
That’s all the info I’m giving too.
And God help ACORN if they come to my house w/o a warrant and a SWAT team.
No-one has ever been successfully prosecuted for non-compliance. I’m willing to be a test case if Odumbass wants to try.

I didn’t know that. I’ll maybe give it a try too!
I did mine over the phone. Every answer that did not pertain to the number of people living in my household was answered by “decline”. The lady on the other end of the phone did her best to wriggle some info from me but did not get much. When I protested some of the questions SHE was the one who said I had the option to “decline” an answer.
WTH? How does that apply to anything? It's odd, but I have never spoke to a census worker or received a census form in my life (and I'm many decades old). I wonder how I got under the radar.
Neither myself. I will be a rude exchange when/if it happens.
Name, Address, City, State, Zip - everything else NOYFB.
The number of people in my house is on my 1040.
