The John Daly saga hits Mobile: Colorful pro golfer runs his RV into Bankhead Tunnel
MOBILE, Ala. -- Professional golfer John Daly has made plenty of headlines both on and off the course since he burst onto the scene with his victory in the 1991 PGA Championship. On Monday, Daly made his presence known in Mobile when the top of his RV smashed the top of the Bankhead Tunnel and the parts collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Lawyers involved already.
Scumbag.
Damn John, you’re lovability is slipping more every day. In the the end he’s gonna wind up dead in a hotel room overdosed on something.
Presumably, if pieces of another guy’s vehicle hit you while you are peacefully driving down the road, you are entitled to damages. He and his lawyer are only asking for the cost of repairing his car.
Why is he a scumbag? If anything, the city of Mobile needs to build a taller tunnel. This is not the first time a serious accident occurred in that tunnel.
The PGA should organize an all-pro intervention.
(Each one brings a nine iron.)
Since Daly’s abortive attempt at “rehab” failed, I have thought that it will not end well for him.
He’s a lovable and very friendly guy with many excellent qualities, but he’s also a train wreck.
It is amazing, as soon as he lawyers up,he has neck and back pain.I have back pain from doing yard work I think I will sue my lawn.
That tunnel should be higher.
John Daly is a mess.
So exact why should 10s of Millions of tax payer dollars be spent to rebuild a tunnel for 5-10% of the traffic (at most) on the lesser travel route, as well as those too stupid to read or be aware of what they are driving?
For those who don’t know, there is an alternate route around the tunnel with no height restrictions and signs are all over the place warning about the tunnel height (as well as speed of approach) so there’s really no excuse to crash into the tunnel.
As to the alleged neck and shoulder injuries, I don’t know if it might be fake or not but I do know that I once was struck from the rear by another driver and did not feel anything wrong until hours later - probably due to the adrenaline associated with a sudden crash.
If the Dalys agree to pay up for the damage to the car and any medical expenses, I suppose all’s well that ends well but if the Dalys are going to lawyer up and deny any responsibility then I guess he better hope Daly wins a tournament or two before the case goes to trial because Daly is someone who seems to float in and out of scandals and I doubt he is well-set financially.
I nominate Chevy Chase or Larry King to star in the movie.

The guy with the world’s fugliest wardrobe.

From that photo in the article it looks like John has lost a lot of weight.
But a natty dresser!
I feel so old. The name “John Daly” makes me think of the CBS broadcaster, and “Bankhead” makes me think of Tallulah. And I never heard of this baseball player John Daly, whoever he is.
