A Georgia liquor store clerk credits his police officer son with giving him two life-saving gifts a cell phone and a gun.
Joseph Wescott says the phone he slipped into his shirt pocket stopped a knife to his chest when a robbery suspect attacked him at the store in a northern Atlanta suburb. He then reached under the counter for the .40-caliber handgun and shot the man.
"The knife that he had looked like it was about 10-foot long," the 67-year-old Wescott exclaimed.

Joseph needs a lot more practice!
Any knife fight you walk away from unharmed is a good knife fight, especially when the other guy didn’t know it was a gun fight.
Yeah, woulda been nice if he put the punk down permanently.
However, he was still able to use the phone to call it in! TOO COOL!
Yes, a bit of practice would be wise. Practice shooting, and also practice bringing the gun up fast.
I remember that story about a jeweler out in California who had to shoot three or four attempted robbers, who just wouldn’t stop trying to hold up his store and kill him. He had a couple of handguns laid out where they would be handy.
If one holdup man came into this guy’s liquor store, it’s not unlikely that there may be a repeat.
Lance Thomas, CA watchmaker and retailer. His story is one of an incredibly brave and persistent patriot and citizen who truly dealt lethally with his predator thugs... and with training and smarts. God bless him. He’s amazing.

The kicker is the ATF hat the guy is wearing.
No, seriously.
I’ve got this color print hanging on my wall at work. It just never gets old. NEVER.
Great video. Around minute six there is a neat dialogue with the reporter, who is either really good at setting up the “don’t resist” argument or is clueless.
Mr. Thomas reminds me of “Burt” in the “Tremors” series.

Something like that can happen in a split second and it’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it,” Jason Wescott said.
That’s got to be photoshopped. Not even an ATF guy would be dumb enough to use a pistol as an earplug, especially in an environment where a sharp noise might make you flinch.
Thomas, the shopkeeper that refused to back down. The man is a legend here.
