Didn’t George Bush say that if we went into Iraq and Afghanistan, we’d put pressure on Iran?
I don’t remember that being specifically said but I do think that was supposed to be an implied benefit.
The Iranian revolt, IMHO, is a clear, positive punctuation on the policies of supporting liberty and engagement by George Bush. There is freedom on both sides of Iran now and the people (and the Mullahs) know it. Obama is trapped, and cannot change his policy of disengagement and appeasement to get on the right side of history here...that would mean disavowing himself and all he has said for the last several years, which he will not do because it will expose him for what he has always been.
How long before we see, "Send us George Bush" posters??
Imagine millions of very intelligent Iranians noticing democratic governments (however shaky) in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they're still being ruled by some idiot theocrats who haven't left the seventh century. It's obviously driving them to frustration. They want to join the twenty-first century, and they have morons for leaders. Come to think of it, so do we.
