Just breaking on BNO News. No story to link too at this time.
Oh, that's why he got the transplant; no doubt about it. This is not a typical treatment offered to just anyone; so go ahead and go off the deep end...I'll meet you there. My wife contracted Hepatitis C when she was operated on years ago. She has been waiting 2 years for a liver transplant and the odds on her receiving one are slim according to her doctors. From what the docs tell us getting a match is not the real problem it's the scarcity of donors. If I even thought this guy received this transplant because of his billions or the influence it bought, I think I would probably go right off the deep end.btw:Usually when people speak of a liver transplant were not talking about transplanting an entire liver-its usually a small part of the donors liver. 20 posted on June 20, 2009 1:04:12 AM EDT by Larry381
I am very familiar with liver complications post the type of surgery that Jobs had a few years ago (Whipple)...I'm sure the cancer showed up in the liver...although no one will confirm that apparently (probably to avoid this type of reaction). A quick google search found that most physicians would not do this, as it results in a poor outcome and takes an organ from someone who would probably experience a much better long term result.
However, I already knew that, having sat in a surgical consult room with my Father and asking the question: "How about a transplant?" Mayo said that they had tried such an approach, but it was abandoned for the reasons that I stated. My Father had very, very good insurance; but not the resources to build a new wing onto the hospital.
When you consider how how much how many people would do for $1 billion, there just has to be some point at which you admit that money on that scale does, and should, matter.
it’s a news service exclusively on twitter. they are very good at reporting breaking news before the major news providers do.
Thank you again, Swordmaker, for letting us know about the exchange for folks who bought their iPhones before May 9.
I must have been the oldest person in line yesterday morning at the Apple store in Ann Arbor. And the new 3G S is very cool.
*Posted from my iBook while the new 3G S is charging.
I was told by the head of the Liver Transplant Team at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City that livers are apportioned by two criteria: How long one is on the waiting list and how badly the liver is needed. The waiting list for donor livers is anonymously coded to prevent preferential treatment by both doctors and their patients and the reason that is done is to prevent someone from jumping the list, so to speak.
No, my wife is not some billionaire techie who invented some iconic product, or someone who pays a huge amount of taxes or even someone like Mickey Mantle or some famous musician who destroyed their original livers through alcohol or drug abuse.
She’s just a normal woman who was a good wife and mother and who, in my opinion, deserves to live just as much as Jobs or Mantle or David Crosby.
You apparently feel differently. Perhaps your perspective would change if it was one of your loved ones.
I don’t know how long Jobs was on the transplant list or if he was even on one since it’s possible that a family member donated part of their liver and in that case, it’s a moot point.
My Mom was 85 and going strong until MRSA got her in a minor operation. The hospital was filthy. She suffered plenty.
But, she lived in an apartment, was spry, and active. She cooked for neighbor's and helped with their needs. She drove them in her Buick, to appts, etc. Her life was lost to many.
Her Mom died at 97, and was just put in a bed the year before! He older sister died in her 90's, still active, but living with someone to share.
I hope to see 120, myself. I:
Drink red wine daily and eat lots of beef, pork, and seafood.
Cook with and use real butter and olive oil.
Smoke a stogie and wash it down with Port or scotch, daily.
Walk 30-40 miles of WV mountain ridges weekly with my dog, Spot.
Yell at the TV and computer screens about all this crap to vent! If I didn't I'd go crazy!!!
I'll be in DC on the 4th. Hope to see lots of us there.
Before or after 0bamacare?
Yeah. Big as life. He and a rather attractive lady were working on their laptops. Before I recognized him I passed them on my way to the head, and made some crack about them emailing each other.
Got a laugh out of them...
Now you've done it, - damn near sprayed pineapple-orange juice all over my MacBook Pro...
I’m sitting at my vintage PowerMac2,1 with it’s blazingly slow 400MHz processor thinking that if you can afford a MacBook Pro you deserve it...
No liver for you!
You said — No story to link too at this time.

No linkee, no storee... LOL...
No link probably means someone is pulling your leg and wanting more hits to the website... :-)
This treatment would never be approved under obamacare. How selfish. Doesn’t he know how much that costs the healthcare system and that he should just die?
(not entirely sarc)
Speculating on Steve Jobs’ liver is a little less fun than speculating on the specs for the next Macbook and/or the next iPhone and so on... LOL...
And no one ever gets it right, anyway... but “speculating” is always fun for Apple users. Now, it turns out that the MSM is starting to have fun speculating, too (but in their case about Jobs’ liver... :-)... ).
Swordmaker, you were asking — Why would Tennessee have only a 48 day waiting period to get a nationally sought Liver Transplant when all the other states liver transplant candidates have to wait 306 days to get to the top of the list?
—
Well, you and I and other thinking people would know that any such waiting period (like 48 days) would be *sucked up* in no time flat, as the others waiting, would jump in there... LOL...
It’s only natural. That 48-day waiting period would disappear in “days”.... :-)
You said — This holds true in other corporations but not at Apple.
—
The laws that apply to other corporations also apply to Apple. There are *lots* of prosecutors who would like to “make their career” on a company like Apple... LOL...
People usually *invent* these scenarios when “normal thinking” doesn’t work to promote their “pet theories”...
Hearts don’t explode....they tear or get a bad leak or fibrillate or their little arteries get clogged either by diet, genetics or anatomy
they simply do not “explode” like and burst and disintegrate
it’s urban legend.....”man, that dude did so much coke his heart just exploded into little pieces inside his chest”
two open heart surgeries due to congenital defect (intraseptal LAD) and still here for now
Apple boss 'had liver transplant'
Maybe all their fact checkers are working the Iranian crisis....
How odd! I just read a story of some guy who woke up in the bathtub of his Vegas hotel room to find someone had cut out his liver........
Who will be doing the complaining? No one. Because when you buy Apple you buy Steve Jobs. You are betting on Steve Jobs and that bet includes letting him deal with his health problems as he chooses.
Apple is not 100% Steve but you get the idea
If we were meant to be vegeterians, God wouldn’t have made meat so delicious.
Unless of course the real fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was a prime rib....
