I will participate in the demonstrations tomorrow. Maybe they will turn violent. Maybe I will be one of the people who is going to get killed.
I’m listening to all my favorite music. I even want to dance to a few songs.
I always wanted to have very narrow eyebrows. Yes, maybe I will go to the salon before I go tomorrow!
There are a few great movie scenes that I also have to see. I should drop by the library, too. It’s worth to read poems again.
All family pictures have to be reviewed, too. I have to call my friends as well to say goodbye. All I have are two bookshelves which I told my family who should receive them.
I’m two units away from getting my bachelors degree but who cares about that. My mind is very chaotic.
I wrote these random sentences for the next generation so they know we were not just emotional and under peer pressure.

Their blood has sparked the Iranian torch of freedom. May it burn brightly and fiercely and burn away the abuses of the Mullahs. These people are giving their lives for freedom and many will face the horrors of rape centers and starvation camps. The dead will be the lucky ones. They know this, yet they will march anyway. May the people rise with them and sweep away the tyranny of the Mullahs and their henchmen. Let freedom ring! How many of us would do the same? Who knows? We may face such a thing in our own land soon enough. How many will march knowing it means death of worse than death imprisonment? May Allah the compassionate grant them victory and comfort those who fall, ushering their souls into the seventh heaven promised to those who die as true martyrs.

I am not bigoted. That they want to tear down something awful and unsuccessful is clear. What is not clear is what they WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH.
So I see it as some well deserved mob frenzy, but not as a true liberation movement of democratically minded people. I think a lot of foreigners are “reading” what they like into this rebellion and thinking of it in western terms. We hate the nutjob and so anybody fighting the nutjob is good. I’m okay with that, but I have serious doubts that it’s about democracy or the end of female oppression, not with those people howling Allahu Akbar from the rooftops. I see it as a fiery mix of highly dissatisfied people. Should they be so lucky as to bring down that regime, I’ll bet you that civil war will ensue with today’s allies killing each other off until the next strongman comes along.
Democracy and Islam don’t mix. They’ll go on being nasty to women, developing nukes, hating Israel, lopping off hands and lapidating lovers. As a matter of fact, I find it OMINOUS that chants of freedom and chants of Allahu Akbar are being combined. Should they be successful, I see more Islamic green revolutions rising in which the young will try to get rid of the old in the name of some vague la-di-dah freedom.
Put it this way. There were two great revolutions, the American and the French. The American revolution made the USA, legality, stability, reasonableness. The French revolution led to a reign of terror.
My hackles tell me that an Iranian revolution will lead to terror. I hope for them that they get a more benevolent despot, but - should they be successful - I don’t see democracy being the upshot.
My view is that we westerners don’t know what’s up, because not even the Iranians do. They have facebook and twitter and SMS and satellite dishes... they have the communications, but they don’t have a unifying ideal beyond tearing down the regime. Is their leader REALLY their leader in an ideological sense or just a momentary excuse for all the different groups?
If Mousawi (sp) is their leader, well check out his record. He’s a Nutjob Light. If he’s just an excuse, then - should they bring down the regime, there will be a civil war.

You nailed it. It is so refreshing to see an accurate assessment of the situation. I am tearing my hair out at the dewey-eyed sentimentalism on this thread. These Iranians are cut from the same cloth as the mobs that took over our Embassy in 1979 and paraded around our crashed helicopters and the bodies of US servicemen. Don’t mind the backlash you may get here, you are 100% right.

I think you are possibly the only one here that understands the true nature of what is going on in Iran, and how idiotic our “Congress” is to favor riots and destruction of property as a proper method of “political” protest, which is no different than the same kinds of riots in France, Germany, Belgium, and Scandinavia. How come they did not protest those governments “repressing” those riots... I mean demonstrations? They were done by the same kind of people (Muslims) for the same reason (to have things their way.)”
If anyone thinks these riots are about freedom, thy have no idea what freedom is or what Islam is.

Yes, and there's a surprising number of bold Christian Iranians in those crowds, I've been keeping up with them through Voice of the Martyrs, may God bless and protect them and raise them up during these trying times.
The Iranians are pulling off the ultimate Freep. Can't you just root for them like the rest of us?
Outside of the US military, I’ve never seen a people so brave, so selfless, so willing to fight to the death and go out in public when they know they could be shot, all to overthrow an evil regime and fight for freedom.
Prayers for the Iranians. Tomorrow will be a momentous day over there.
I will pray for the safety of this young person - and all the other brave Iranian people.
I see that there are quite a few of us here that are not happy with Obama’s response, but I don’t really see what Obama can “do” right now besides say what he said. Is it possible that our government is appearing publicly neutral while at the same time helping the opposition in the background in ways that we don’t know about? It just seems like there’s only so much we can do, really.
