Before the Battle (Iranian Citizens Preparing to March to Their Deaths Tomorrow)
Atlantic Magazine ^ | 19 Jun 2009 04:34 pm | Andrew Sullivan & unnamed Iranian blogger

Posted on 06/19/2009 2:01:27 PM PDT by lewisglad

I will participate in the demonstrations tomorrow. Maybe they will turn violent. Maybe I will be one of the people who is going to get killed.

I’m listening to all my favorite music. I even want to dance to a few songs.

I always wanted to have very narrow eyebrows. Yes, maybe I will go to the salon before I go tomorrow!

There are a few great movie scenes that I also have to see. I should drop by the library, too. It’s worth to read poems again.

All family pictures have to be reviewed, too. I have to call my friends as well to say goodbye. All I have are two bookshelves which I told my family who should receive them.

I’m two units away from getting my bachelors degree but who cares about that. My mind is very chaotic.

I wrote these random sentences for the next generation so they know we were not just emotional and under peer pressure.

So they know that we did everything we could to create a better future for them. So they know that our ancestors surrendered to the Arabs and the Mongols but did not surrender to despotism.

This note is dedicated to tomorrow’s children…” - an Iranian blogger, with more courage than most of us will ever know.

Incredible courage on display by people who want hope and change. Unfortunately, our CiC shares none of their desires and possesses none of their character. He won't even support them with his words. Obama is no friend of free people or people who wish to escape totalitarianism.

The events in Iran should be a game changer but the mindless automatons here ignore the world in favor of creating their nanny state utopia. We learn nothing.

I pray blessings upon these brave young people!
Some of them are probably my spiritual relatives.

Even though we may not help. Our presence in the region will prevent any outside forces from helping the mullahs oppress their people. If they start the killing, the people may very well finish it. We should put our troops on the borders to help the good refugees if necessary and to shoot the bad ones if we have the opportunity.

The opposition is shouting Allahu Akbar from their roofs. It is not about freedom. They are and remain Muslims and Muslims often rise from abulia to mob frenzy. This is the same crowd that turned against America. These are still hugely bickering groups (bickering among themselves), with no plan, no clarity, except dissatisfaction for the status quo. These are not the Hungarians fighting Stalinism, East Germans hankering to pull down the wall. They are Muslims shouting Allah is Great. They are the frying pan to fire crowd. It is a Green Revolution - green as in the color of Islam. It might likely inspire similar green revolutions among the restive Islamic brotherhoods of the world. No bill of rights will issue from this, only chaos. The chaos of the Islamic ethos which will - should they be successful - lead to another totalitarian regime.

The US does well to stay out. No lover of democracy, or human rights would shout “Allah is Great” as a battle cry.

Their leader is no moderate. He is practically one of the inventors of Hezbollah.

Persians are political fanatics, imbued with rage and violence.

“By the way, two nights ago I went out to see a few things ... as the general crowds spread into their homes militia style Mousavi supporters were out on the streets ‘Basiji hunting’. Their resolve is no less than these thugs — they after hunting them down. They use their phones, their childhood friends, their intimate knowledge of their districts and neighbours to plan their attacks — they’re organised and they’re supported by their community so they have little fear. They create the havoc they’re after, ambush the thugs, use their Cocktail Molotovs, disperse and re-assemble elsewhere and then start again - and the door of every house is open to them as safe harbour — they’re community-connected.”

Coach K would never put up with the spoiled pro jocks.

There are supposed to be units made up from Arab-extremists (Hezbollah types) that are augmenting the Mullahs' security forces. I don't think that these Arab battalions are going to have any problem slaughtering Persians in pursuit of some hardline Islamic theology.

The wild-card may be the Iranian Army. Whichever side that they come down on will win. I'm sure that the Mullahs are busily reviewing the 'reliability' of units in the Tehran area.

IF, and that's a big if, the US were to send two armored divisions across the Iraq/Iran border 4 hours before the protest is scheduled, this thing would be over in 2 days.

The IRG would head to the battle on the border while the "people" gathered up the despots in Tehran.

The Iranian army might not even leave the barracks.

I wrote about this in my blog. It would be so wonderful to have a real stateman like Reagan, Kennedy or even Bush in office now to stand up and speak for freedom.

Instead we get these powerful words that surely will be quoted by Iranian children for decades from Obama:

And my hope is that the regime responds not with violence, but with recognition that the universal principles of peaceful expression and democracy are ones that should be affirmed.

This could have been Obama's "tear down this wall moment." But he feels more affinity for islamic dictators and thugs than the Iranian people yearning to be free.

I did not ask for it and I do not want any of it.

Gentle hint: Try to know at least a little about what you spew about. Saves embarrassment.

Too bad our joke of a president doesn’t have this kind of strength.

Strength to do what?

Tie a green rag on your head and run around hollering?

What does that accomplish exactly? (Besides creating a neat photo op?)

Better they arm themselves and blow away the mullahs.
