MIAMI — An illegal immigrant from Indonesia is suing a former Catholic priest and TV star, claiming the priest sought to have him deported to protect his wife from scandal.
Maxi Paulus Ratunuman (RAH'-too-noo-mahn) claims he was arrested June 6 on false trespassing charges by an off-duty police officer who provided security for the Rev. Alberto Cutie (KOO'-tee-ay). Ratunuman, who overstayed a tourist visa, was in a Miami jail Thursday.
Ratunuman says he is the ex of Cutie's wife Ruhama Bune Canales.
He says the three conspired to get him out of the picture because he was asking for money Canales owned him.

Okay, where are all the Cutie (”They’re just in love”) supporters?

More and more dirt will come out.

An illegal immigrant from Indonesia is suing a former Catholic priest

This guy should have no standing to bring a lawsuit. He shouldn't even be in this Country to do so. Maybe he can appeal to another illegal alien, the Kenyan/Indonesian/who knows what, usurper in the White House.

I’m just glad he bailed on the Church and he’s the Anglicans’ problem now!

That said, aside from Cutie himself, the person most responsible for this is the Archbishop of Miami, who is not a good manager, obviously has no idea of what his priests are doing and should never have let Cutie become the media star that he was. Fortunately, the Archbishop is pretty close to retirement now.

This priest is loved very much by many Catholics here in Miami. When he did what he did, he also hurt a lot of people. I hadn’t realized the damage he had done until I heard my priest reading a letter from the archdiocese basically excommunicating Cutie. Some people in mass walked out, some were crying, families were getting up and leaving mass due to the nature of this shameful event. I hadn’t thought much about it until that Sunday. Our priest couldn’t even finish reading the letter out loud as he choked up and had to call someone up to finish it. I used to think “They are just in love..” as well but when I saw people crying in the pews I realized what great hurt this man’s actions had done. He supposedly called the archdiocese on a Friday to tell them he was leaving the church and told the TV stations that same Friday. The following Sunday he was at his new church with a new crowd. It shouldn’t matter who the priest is, it is He that matters. The only way I can compare the offensive way his actions hurt and disrespected the people he was trusted by is by imagining if he would have defecated on the bible during mass.

Very sad. I think letting him become a media celebrity was a big problem; it rarely ends well, because people who become “religious celebrities” are very vulnerable to pride and self-love, and soon it becomes all about them, regardless of their original motivation (which may have been a good one and in Cutie’s case probably was). Cutie is clearly showing that the only important person in his life is himself - not God, not the people of Miami - and it is really sad that he has treated Miami Catholics in such a disrespectful and cruel way.

Like all Catholics, the consecrated Eucharist is the real living presence of the risen Christ under the appearances of Bread and Wine. That Cutie, in a matter of days, chose to be an Anglican and hence like all non-Christians who do not share in this belief, demonstrates that his was a change, not of true discernment, but of lust.

They adore him and will probably follow him to the Anglican church.

I doubt that they’ll follow him anywhere, especially after the way he’s treated them. When priests like him leave the Church, either to start their very own church (like George Stallings) or to join another, they are so egocentric that they are always convinced that everyone will flock after them because they’re just so wonderful.

But they sink like a stone. They become yesterday’s news so fast it must make their heads spin.

Perhaps you’re right. We’ll have to see.
For me he can do no wrong.

I don’t mean to be cruel or obnoxious, but there is no man who can “do no wrong.” The person to whom we must cling is Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Cutie has left Him for his own purposes, a combination of lust and pride, and if you follow Cutie instead of Christ, you will be sad indeed and will be left devastated. Please don’t follow this man. Cling to God.
