"The most visible absence from the budget is the city's annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Main Beach – a $25,000 cost that the city elected to stop after next month's celebration." -------------------------------------------------------- According to the OC Register, the City of Laguna Beach has ordered that the 4th of July fireworks celebrations be canceled due to the city's poor economic condition. However, the city will continue to fund the illegal alien day labor site as their second highest funded community programs. (The first highest program receives only $1,000 more).
The 4th of July fireworks cost the city $25,000 yearly. The illegal alien day labor site cost the city $20,000 yearly, but each year since 1989 the city has had to grant an emergency funding to them, so some years it has cost up to $40,000.

Under Community Assistance Budget, Cross Cultural Council is the name of the group that runs the day labor site. You will see they have been awarded $20,000 for the upcoming year of 2010.
