Found: Galley kitchen from doomed Air France flight discovered floating intact in middle of Atlantic
By Mail Foreign Service 18th June 2009
[Pics in URL] Floating in the middle of the Atlantic, this galley kitchen is the latest piece of Air France Flight 447 to be recovered by salvage crews.
The wreckage is extraordinarily intact despite being part of an plane that experts believe broke apart in midair.
Even some of the drawers, containing a selection of ready-meals for passengers, remained wedged securely inside the unit

“He spoke as it was revealed an Air France jet bound for Paris was sabotaged in Germany just three days after the Flight 447’s crash.
Technicians inspecting the plane discovered wires to a smoke detector in the luggage hold had been severed with a cutter in what Air France has described as a ‘malicious act’.”

It doesn’t look all that “intact” to me.

To: Owl_Eagle
I am more and more convinced that this plane was the subject of a bomb.

To: Steelfish
Maybe the company that builds the galleys should build the airplanes.
Just a thought . . .

Hmm. For something that they say fell about 35,000 feet it is amazingly undamaged. Not even bent from what must have been a very high speed impact with the water.

Make the planes outa the plastic they wrap the food...

To: TCats
Actually, it seems likely it broke up at 18.000 ft. That would leave that kitchen hitting the water at 100 mph.
Totally believable.

Got to agree, even though it’s not a funny event...

    First thing I thought.
I also recall an airline that crashed. The flight attendant sitting in the jump seat in the tail lived and was basically unscathed -— tail spiraled down relatively gently.

    It was in the tail.
The tail is basically a little plane all by itself.

or sabotage. A well placed puncture in the fuselage would takedown the plane with minimal explosives. Perhaps an improved minibomb like the one Richard Reid was testing in his shoe. Or some type of electrical or structural sabotage, boosted by a timer or computer signal as the plane cleared the coastal area
Unlike Pan Am 103, the timing of this event was impeccable- occurring in a remote area when the plane was well out to sea. The perps probably never thought any wreckage would be recovered.
