The U.S. Senate, by unanimous consent, passed a resolution apologizing for slavery and racial segregation, according to reports.
Republican Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, one of the sponsors, said the measure was no panacea, but could help trigger reconciliation.

The problem is that the Romans are still trying to find some Etruscans to shakedown, pesky fellows are nowhere to be found.
They need better lawyers maybe.
go ahead....loot our treasury...there’s no end in sight to the fun you can have when you are totally unaccountable
Not African descendants that migrated here after slavery, right?
REAL African Americans (those that were born in Africa) would surely not be eligible. But there are very few REAL African-Americans... and some of them are caucasion.
Charlize Theron, for instance, should she be eligible? She is, afterall, African American.
How am I gonna feed it without government assistance?
Muslims, the world’s biggest slave traders ... When is Barry going to apologize for them?
Now how about to repatriate those blacks, who complain, to the origin from where their ancestors came, that should solve that problem huh???
If they do that, they should give everyone reperations. All people fought and died for this country. Remember the civil war?
This “apology” was made a long time ago with the deaths of God knows how many Union soldiers.
What in hell is wrong with this damned Senate?
There's no such thing.
It's racial discrimination.
I WANT REPARATIONS FOR BEING A WHITE HAOLE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BY THE STATE OF HAWAII!!!!!!!!!
Wheres MY MONEY! I got out of second grade well below a first because the teachers forced me out of class cause I was white. I want my money now!
just in case anyone needs it /sarc
Hell, you could have been born in 1866, and you could say the same thing.
How can the U.S. Senate apologize for acts and institutions initiated by the British, French, Dutch and Spanish Crown Colonies?
Brownback makes me sick. The sorriest type of rino.
He’s absolutely worthless.
If I had 2 acres of swamp land I would build a casino.
In all, around 360,000 Union soldiers died as a direct result of the war. The Confederacy lost 260,000.
So, if the Government DOES act on these ‘reparations’ and such... I’m thinking I would be very justified in saying “hell no” and putting my foot down; how many people in the US have owned slaves (even non-citizens)? Out of how many people total? And, let’s see... SLAVERY’S BEEN ILLEGAL FOR GENERATIONS!
When will we be rid of these thieves are acting under color of law/office...
