Local families are receiving threatening e-mails.
Police say the messages are a scam.
The e-mailer tells you that if you don't send money, you or a relative will be murdered.

The e-mailer tells you that if you don't send money, you or a relative will be murdered. Do I get to pick the relative?

Oh, by the way, it is so funny that they can send people threatening e-mails and it takes forever to catch them. Try sending an e-mail threatening bodily harm to the president and see how quickly they find you. What a total sham.

Who even reads these emails?
But the reality is, can I pick the relative?

Although this publication isn't on the list, the article itself, at the end, asks that it not be redistributed.
The e-mail refers to the Ishmael Ghost Islamic Group (which doesn't exist) and says that the person receiving the e-mail has offended one of their members.
We've come a long way from, "send this e-mail to 10 people or you'll have a bad day".

As soon as I get my promised millions from Gen. Nygumbmays daughter (late of Nigeria), I will spend money. So, if they could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

From Nigeria? They show as coming from Eastern Europe, which I think means nothing.
Three people in one community, none others reporting. Sounds like a local to me.

The correct response is, if you send me your bank account number, pin and password I will have the money deposited into your account.
