The son of Iran's late shah said Monday he saw echoes of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that overthrew his father as massive crowds took to the streets against the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Das Mullahas control whatever the show they are pulling, however it would be nice to see original democracy nation gets back some form of freedom, not a dynasty of hacks we enjoy in west.
Reza Pahlavi is right and it is just like I remember.
He’s right, but his dad wasn’t willing to gun down the Iranian populace to maintain control. Jimma may get to see how wrong he was about the Shah in upcoming days.
The Shah was not perfect by a long shot, but as Middle-Eastern nations go, he certainly wasn’t the worst character around.
Carter, and now Obama both treated our allies like dirt. It’s deja vu all over again.
It’s a historical tragedy of the first order that the best friend of dictators around the world is in the White House while this is going on.
You are so correct, The Shah was “javeed (merciful)” in many instances.
The only difference this time is that the ‘leader’ of Iran isn’t getting backstabbed by the scumbag Jimmy Carter as the Shah was in ‘79.
It’s all street theatre, Ahmadinnerjacket will still be in power at the end of this year, unless the mullahs can find someone who is better able to serve their ends.
The entire BS in the ME can be blamed on jimmuh!
Indeed it would be...don't hold your breath however, the people must first over throw the present Theocracy that governs them...they have truly want to take the hits to bring back a free country. People in the US are similar in some respects, i.e. Obama's latest act in defiance of the Constitution, firing the Inspector General without telling congress or giving a reason....
...and his insistence that his health care plan be done immediately is cause for real concern to all. America, we have been the Obama Hurry-Up-Road before so don't fall for his Bait & Switch health plans...the real agenda here is to remove one more Capitalist stumbling block for Obama, the Insurance companies...free enterprise the American way...not the Obama power grab.
“The shah, who died in Cairo a year later, had been a close ally of the United States. His domestic agenda included improving the role of women and weakening the power of the clergy.”
Wow, it only took the media 30 years to get the story right.
If they try that here they will find out why armed citizens are to be feared and not pushed around.
nuh i get it
i am just basically working on my alcoholism these days
Agreed he even made the Shahs military stand aside and not shoot the Mad Man Khomeini's aircraft down. That wimp is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths ever since leading right up to 9/11.
Yes, I agree. He destabilized that region, and we’ve paid for it for over thirty years. Millions have died as a direct result of Carter’s actions.
Hell, the left is infamous for this. Look at the aftermath of Vietnam, the millions who died in Cambodia and Vietnam as a result of the leftists demanding we leave there with our tail between our legs.
It remains to be seen how much it will cost us due to Carter facilitating cover for North Korea to develop nuclear weapons.
Ping.
Great picture.
The mullahs hijacked the Revolution. It is going to be very difficult this time to overthrow the regime since the mullahs and the poor, their power base, will be difficult to overcome, especially since the mullahs have no compunction on the use of force to keep themselves in power.
I agree. He was a one-man wrecking crew.
I’m not quite sure yet what the ramifications of that will be. Now that they are enlarging the facilities, it may be much more of a threat. The Chi-Coms are running the place from what I understand, so it could turn out ugly there too in time.
I wouldn’t like China to have full access to the Caribbean with it’s military ships, as they become more of a threat.
What original democracy are you referring to?
