Is Obama Already a Lame Duck?
Tech Ticker via Yahoo! News ^ | June 15, 2009 | by John Carney

How did Obama manage to spend all his political capital so quickly? Did it all go on the stimulus bill? Wasn’t the whole point of bringing Rahm in as chief of staff that he could work constructively with Congress to pass an ambitious agenda? And isn’t Obama himself the first president since JFK to have entered the White House from the Senate? I’m not sure when everything went wrong here, but I fear that the damage is now irreparable — and that Obama’s agenda is going to be severely scaled back as a result.

Our explanation is rather simple: Obama’s agenda was ambushed by the financial crisis, which forced him to spend the crucial early months of his presidency in pursuit of economic recovery and financial stability. It’s not a matter of spending political capital quickly so much as spending time-expiring political capital on the financial crisis. Basically, presidents only have a limited amount of time to get anything ambitious accomplished. And Obama’s time may have already run out.

As he’s fond of saying, this isn’t the presidency he asked for. He had wanted a presidency focused on spreading the wealth around rather than desperately attempting to keep our wealth from vanishing into the national money hole.

That said, Obama can still give a helluva speech. That healthcare reform thing today really was a marvelous piece of rhetoric.

Come on Sacajaweau,
This ass clown gives a heck of a speech as long as his teleprompter doesn’t go down.
What scares me is who is the guy behind the scenes?
Who is pulling this guys strings?

Me too. Every time my wife tells me about the latest Michelle screw-up, the theme from The Jeffersons starts playing in my head.

If they were white, I’d say white trash finally made it to the presidency. But the’re not, so I won’t.

That happened sixteen years ago.

Personally, I don't think he will be president two years from his inauguration date. Some have said less. The guy's background and utter lack of ability and class is just killing his popularity.

I used to say he reminded me of Hitler, but I am noticing he is turning more into a Mussolini.

The 2012 Election is 86 months away, and no one knows what will happen.

Right now, it doesn't matter. We have 2010 to get through. If BO looks to be riding high, we still have to work hard for 2010 -- Democrat success is not a given. If BO looks to be floundering, we still have to work hard for 2010 -- Republican success is not a given. The voters won't be voting for a abstract ideas, but for candidates. If we don't' have good, well supported, candidates in 2010, and the Democrats do, we won't do well, regardless of how people like BO.

We need to stop pondering what will happen in 2012, and make things happen in 2010.

No one knows what the future holds in politics. The U.S. House changed hands in 1946, 1948, 1952, and 1954. Everybody, I mean everybody, assumed that in 1956, with Ike at the top of the Republican ticket, the House would change hands again. Sam Rayburn (D-TX), the once again Speaker, told Joseph Martin (R-MA), the outgoing Speaker, and once again Minority Leader, that he was tired of the two of them having to switch their furniture back and forth, between the Speaker's Office and Minority Leader's Office, every two years. Martin could just keep the office space assigned to the Speaker, and he would keep the office space assigned to the Minority Leader, Rayburn said.

As it turned out, the Republicans did not, as Rayburn expected, take the House from the Democrats in 1956. They did not retake it until 1994!

Lets not argue about what we expect will happen, good or bad, and instead spend our energies making things happen.

I pray that the "damage" to obama's power is irreparable. Otherwise, the damage to what used to be the United States of America will be irreparable.

>Heck of a speech? His orations are loud, staccato, riddled with contradictions and high on appeals to emotion.

Actually, I find it illuminating to READ the transcripts rather than listen to him... it’s so much more clear when there’s no razzle-dazzle sleight of hand and it’s “on paper”.

I agree that, in 2009, we shouldn’t predict what will happen in 2012. In Dec. 1994, many people thought that Bill Clinton couldn’t be re-elected, in 1996, but he won.

In 2010, Republicans might gain seats, if they campaign together, similarly to the Contract with America. They should promise that, if Republicans regain control of both houses of Congress, they’ll pass a set of about five bills, including cutting tax rates to the 1989 rates, repealing all laws that violate the 10th Amendment, and building a brick wall, along the Mexican border.

Indeed so. But I do not think that Obama is the Anti-Christ of Revelation (AN anti-christ, perhaps) because the whole world is supposed to follow him... and, it seems to me, like he’s a laguhingstock/pushover to much of the world.

Also, it’s a bit ethnocentric to think that the Anti-Christ is going to be the US President... more likely he’ll come from Europe ot the MidEast, though it’s not inconceivable that he’ll have Asian ties.

Lastly, there is the portion about claiming to be God, deceiving the world, along with his false prophet.
