SAVING THE PLANET,LOSING THE PATIENT:(BC)hospitals to cut patient care for global warming laws

It looks like public hospitals in British Columbia, Canada, will have to cut patient services in order to comply with global warming laws established by the provincial government, says Paul Chesser, a correspondent with the Heartland Institute.

According to the Surrey Leader:

The Lower Mainland's health authorities will have to dig more than $4 million a year out of their already stretched budgets to pay B.C.'s carbon tax and offset their carbon footprints. Critics say the payments mean the government's strategy to fight climate change will further exacerbate a crisis in health funding. "You have public hospitals cutting services to pay a tax that goes to another 100 per cent government-owned agency," National Democratic Party health critic Adrian Dix said.

For example:

The Fraser Health Authority will pay $616,000 in carbon tax this year, rising to $821,000 next year, officials there said. And by 2010 Fraser will pay $1.3 million a year to the province's Pacific Carbon Trust to offset its projected 52,600 tons of carbon emissions released. Vancouver Coastal Health Authority also expects its costs will be close to $2 million next year in combined carbon tax and offset payments. And while human life is threatened, of course, the stated objective of global warming kooks is once again undermined: Dix warned that some of the potential cuts -- such as closing the emergency room at Mission Memorial Hospital -- would actually increase carbon emissions by sending patients further afield.

"Obviously when you shut down regional centers it makes people travel farther to get to their health care facility," he said.

Now I’m confused. I thought Canada’s was the health care system we glorify and are wanting to institute here in the US. What’s all this talk about a crisis?

Anyone who thinks global warming and it’s associated theft known as “cap & trade” is legitimate is a complete idiot.

Global warming, the myth that is the curse of our times.

Folks, NONE of it is due to "anthropogenic" causes. The earth is a HUGE heat sink, and the little bit of heat energy released by human activity, or any amount of heat captured by "excessive" carbon dioxide, shrinks to insignificance compared to the heat-retention power of a very common substance, water vapor. Water vapor, as clouds, REFLECTS away more solar heat than all the human sources of heat that can be generated on the entire planet, and it is done with absolutely no degree of control by any human agency.

Raising the water temperature even a fraction of a degree, involves the absorption of a VAST number of kilocalories of heat energy, and almost all of it is dissipated immediately by the conversion of water to water vapor, which rises to extreme heights in the atmosphere, and radiates off all its latent heat to become an ice crystal. These ice crystals float in the upper atmosphere, forming the very high cirrus clouds. Descending from these heights, the ice takes up more heat from the surrounding atmosphere, as it melts and becomes rain droplets.

Water vapor is from some twenty to over 100 times as potent a "greenhouse gas" as carbon dioxide could ever be. And it would be totally pointless to regulate water vapor.

Air Composition
The sea-level composition of air (in percent by volume at the temperature of 15̊C and the pressure of 101325 Pa) is given below.

Name-Symbol-Percent by Volume
Nitrogen-N2-78.084 %
Oxygen-O2-20.9476 %
Argon-Ar-0.934 %
Carbon
Dioxide-CO2-0.0384 %
Neon-Ne-0.001818 %
Methane-CH4-0.0002 %
Helium-He-0.000524 %
Krypton-Kr-0.000114 %
Hydrogen-H2-0.00005 %
Xenon-Xe-0.0000087 %

Water vapor is a highly variable component of the atmosphere, ranging from less than 1% to more than 4% of the volume of a given amount of air, and is expressed as "relative humidity".

You just called 50% of Americans idiots.

Well, they are below average.

I'd be willing to bet that 50% of Americans don't know what "cap & trade" is. Half those 50% probably think it has to do with hats.

Yeah, all they know is that evil, white, Christian, Republican, capitalist males are killing our mother, the earth, and that their sweet Obama is going to make everything shiny and new.

Their televisions told them so.

Well, gee, all you have to do is pay the appropriate fee to the “right” people and you can continue to pollute all you want.

So apparently polluting is not really all that serious. This is analogous to the indulgence fees paid by sinners back in the middle ages. Sinning wasn't all that serious as long as you paid the “right” people or institutions.

How can even sheeple be dumb enough to be exploited by this GW scam? If GW is that serious people, paying a fee doesn't make it less serious/dangerous.

DUH! Sorry for the rant - only intended for those who still don't get this.

That's what I thought too. The hospital was still going to be putting out emissions, so how does that money help to combat GW?

And it would be totally pointless to regulate water vapor.

If they can figure a way to tax it, they would try.

I recently talked with my son's brother-in-law who's a doctor (USA) and just competed a one year fellowship in the Vancouver area.
He said the Canadian HC system was even worse than he had expected. Patients are treated like cattle and carry the least weight in any decision making process.
A quote from him - "Being Canadian means waiting in line ... for everything."

What effin crap. Soon they won’t run X-Ray machines because it eats up too much electricity. China and India are laughing at these dumb sh!ts and their global warming paranoia

Global warming = white guilt
And genuflection to every crappy impoverished 3rd world nation.
We are guilty!
We are guilty of prosperity!
We are guilty for driving cars, having refrigerators, for using washing machines, having hot and cold running water and modern sanitation so we are not disease ridden

Canada is single payer so if you want a private doctor you have one choice. Find one in the USA. Or if you don’t want to wait months for an operation you visit an American doctor

At least in Great Britain you can go to a private doctor

And here Obama’s pushing carbon regulation AND health care “reform.” Guess I may end up dying on behalf of the environment, thanks to the future health insurance system of the USSA.
