CIA head says Cheney almost wishing US be attacked (Panetta)

CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of the Obama administration's approach to terrorism almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."

Panetta told The New Yorker for an article in its June 22 issue that Cheney "smells some blood in the water" on the issue of national security.

...

Last month the former vice president offered a withering critique of Obama's policies and a defense of the Bush administration on the same day that Obama made a major speech about national security.

Panetta said of Cheney's remarks: "It's almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it's almost as if he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point. I think that's dangerous politics."

Please. Leon, you do your job and you won't have to worry about what Dick Cheney supposedly wants.

More Democratic War on Language.

Cheney is hoping the current mis-administration will change its policies, to prevent the attacks that our enemies launch.

Panetta: “Shame on D. Cheney for advocating that we try to avoid attacks. If we get attacked when we didn’t try to avoid attacks its his fault, while if didn’t get attacked while trying to avoid attacks that is shear accident. “

So let’s see. 9/11 was Bush’s fault. Tiller’s death was O’Reilly’s fault. The Holocaust Museum attack was Rush’s fault. And the next attack on US soil (Heaven forfend) will be Cheney’s fault. Yep, I get it.

Oh, no! Big Brother says it's Goldstein's fault.

That’s a good one, but did you hear the one about Letterman offering candy to Obama’s daughters?

Imagine if Letterman said that, the libs would string him up by his b...ls.

Panetta damn well better hope and pray there are no attacks on the U.S. on his and Zero’s watch, or a mob will gather in Washington with tar and feathers...

Panetta basically accuses Cheney of treason and heaven forbid anyone accuses of Lyin' Leon of slander and hate-speech.

It’s pretty scary to contemplate that Panetta is head of the CIA and is making such lunatic, partisan gutter politics statements like this.

He’s not rational and he’s in a job that requires rationality.

Shouldn’t he be focusing on national security?

Panetta’s job is to make sure that an attack on the US doesn’t happen. Let’s have less chatter and more doing the job.

Exactly. These political pronouncements from non-elected administrators is ridiculous. It would be just as egregious had a Republican CIA director mouthed-off like this.

Prove it or apologize, Mr. Panetta.

This strikes me as a bit of projection. Only a person who wishes our country ill would be inclined to see that desire in others.

Since the CIA now has mind-reading abilities I suppose the whole water-boarding controversy is obsolete.

No, Panetta the Bureacrat Mediocricy is wishing that Cheney would wish that America be attacked again.

Stay the course “Leon”, things will happen BECAUSE of YOUR decisions and obama’s, not because of some imaginary dialogue you are having in your head about VP Cheney

Ol’ Lousy Leon read the papers Cheney wants released, and now he HAS TO DISCREDIT Cheney before releasing them as Cheney knows and speaks the truth. Nice try Leon, but like the rest of Obama’s administration, you suck at losing and lying about it to the rest of us.

So I wonder how long it took the Democrats to think that line of smear up? David Letterman took a few days to come up with “I was talking about the older daughter” line of BS. With all the evil things the left have said over the years, if you say something counter to their way, they will smear you. So Cheney should just “shut up” and let the left attack him? He has a RIGHT to go out in public and defend himself. Set the record straight for the BS the left is feeding the sheep!!!

From around late-’03 up until the time Obama was elected most Democrats were hoping like crazy were were attacked again just so they could blame it all on Bush’s “warmongering.”

Sounds terrible alert: yes, but what exactly would the Muslim's target? Cities...filled with liberals, gays, Jews and the false-prophet media!

Leon, you are pathetic. If an attack does come, and I hope we never have one, you will have a hard time convincing America it was Cheney’s fault. Good luck with your job, Leon.

Panetta is just going to make a whole lot of CIA underlings mad making comments like that.

Here I thought he was one of the more mature Clintonistas...but what a juvenile he really is.

Perhaps Oshama has asked Panetta to dilute the impact the release of documents Cheney has asked for.

OK...that makes sense. Panetta's still a juvenile.

Par for the course now that the Kings cronies are in charge. National security has been reduced to partisan politics.
