With nation after nation turning down the "opportunity" to house detainees from Guantanmo Bay, I thought Obama discovered Palau by ordering Robert Gibbs to spin a Replogle globe and stop it with his finger.

I haven't followed this issue as closely as I might have. It just seems like senseless Bush bashing, so what's the point?

But I have a serious question, and maybe someone can help catch me up. Currently, we have terrorist detainees, held against their will, on a island in a tropical part of the world. As I understand it, this is unacceptable because George W. Bush thought that it was a good idea.

It seems to me that the new strategy is to have terrorist detainees, held against their will, on a island in a tropical part of the world. Like Bermuda or Palau. This would be far more acceptable, because it's something that George W. Bush did not think of, and because Barack Hussein Obama did think of it.

Is it really that stark? Is there any more nuance to this? Serious question.

I’m guessing we could send the terrorists to an island in the Arctic Circle and that would be acceptable to the left because, as you said, it’s something George W. Bush didn’t think of. IMO, it really is that stark.

What kind of defense installations are provided on Palau? Given the location of SE of the Philippines might prove enticing if Palau wants to blow off Obama and replace the aid with aid from China. I think an expanding China might find Palau an interesting location for expanding it blue water navy.
