WASHINGTON (Reuters) President Barack Obama's health secretary on Sunday pushed for a new government-run healthcare program, an idea facing skepticism even in his own party, and a senior Senate Democrat flatly said votes are lacking in Congress for the proposal.

The list, ping
Democrats remember 1994 quite well I see.
A much BIGGER LACK of votes for Obama will be seen in 2012....unless he is impeached before that!

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S UPBRINGING
Don't under-estimate the Chicago Thugocracy!
EXACTLY....this is a false punch...or something like that....I don’t buy it!
Use the corruption in TARP and the Bailouts as ammunition!
“Do you LIKE what they did to the auto industry, the banking industry and the energy industry? -— Don't let them take over your health care!”
“Senator Duffus took money from banks that he later bailed out with TARP funds, do you want Duffas in charge of your medical insurance claims?”
We don’t want it, we don’t need it!
I think health care is a smoke screen for everything else he has going. Card check, Government Motors, bank seizures, Americorps, etc.
Chicago is a big place. Lots of competing thug groups in town. Obama doesn't have a monopoly here and since he's launched the "gang wars" they are now launched. The AMA is a tough gang and knows how to fight back.
He just needs to wait for the HMO’s, who suffered the same massive stock market losses as everyone else and are facing a tidal wave of boomer retirees, to start going broke.
They have the same problem as the government run system; It’s based on the idea that 1 worker can support 2 retirees. Only here we are talking healthcare, not piddly little Soc Sec checks. Statistically, 1 of the 2 is getting to get at least cancer, so that’s a 100-500 grand bill for every worker paying into the HMO system?
Nothing we were doing made any sense.
The HMO’s will probably be screaming ‘we need a capital injection’ (read: bailout) before long, at which point Obama just takes their balance sheets onto the governments.
I saw Kathleen Sebelius on CNN this morning and she was a joke. Not one serious question from John King, who really was there to feed her easy questions. Big platitudes and lacking details, no serious look into the foolishness and dishonesty of the whole thing.
I don’t trust them. I think this is diversionary and intended to set up something else like crocodile tears for a “compromise” deal. Make it look like they are being moderate and putting up a “fight” for a less agressive plan.
Sebelius is a smooth-talking liar just like Obama. They really make a perfect pair.
Wouldn’t surprise me to see McCain vote for it.
They will pass something. They will pass the most egredious program they can get thru. If they have to water it down to get it passed, they will. They are incrementalists. They destroyed capitalism with incrementalism. They aren’t going to be deterred from getting this thru by perfectionism.
I think among the saner Democrat pols, national-run health care is a bridge too far. You go messing with people’s doctors and the public has a long memory.
And, like I always mention, the party that was terrified that Bush or Cheney might be listening to their phone calls is perfectly happy with the government owning all of your medical records.
