G.M. Said to Be Close to Sale of Saab

FRANKFURT — General Motors is close to a deal to sell Saab, the Swedish carmaker, to Koenigsegg, a manufacturer of high-end sports cars that is also from Sweden, a person close to the negotiations said Thursday.

“We are still working on the deal,” the person said, requesting anonymity because the agreement is not final. “It is not the done deal that some people in Sweden seem to think it is.”

Swedish television reported that a group of Norwegian investors are also part of the deal.

Koenigsegg

Wow, this could really be interesting. Saab seems like an odd match for a supercar manufacturer, but the "quirkiness" aspect (practically Saab's defining characteristic, pre-GM) is actually a good fit.

Better than selling to the Chinese, by far.

Saabs used to be interesting... now they’re just a Chevy with some interior upgrades. Boring.

“That’ll piss ‘em off.”

- Who’ll get pissed off? Few of us Swedes I’d say.

Norway is a beautiful country inhabitated by intelligent, freedom loving people.

Maybe Norway could become an even better nation from getting involved in the automotive industry.

Our family has owned 6 Saabs over the years, starting in 1972. They were great until GM got their hands on them. I hope Saab can again be as good as the Swedes and Finns used to make them. If I could buy a new 1971 Model 96 (V-4), a 1972, 74 Model 99 EMS or a new 1984 Model 900S right now I would!

- What harm has GM done to SAAB Automobiles according to you?

Over here in Sweden, lots of people say the SAAB 9-5 and the second generation of the 9-3 are, by far, better constructions than the models SAAB manufactured prior to the GM takeover. But again, what are your personal views and experiences?

Greetings from Gothenburg, some miles south of SAAB..

“’Vilcome Home Saab!”

- Just curious, do Swedish women appear as attractive or plain exotic and amusing to American guys?

Personally, I love the women of my country. At least those who deserve to be called ‘women’.

Most of the ugly ones are feminists and the pretty ones usually have very low regards of the former.

I wouldn't want to have it any other way.

By the way, a notorious (Swedish-Polish) anti-feminist I dig is actress, Bond girl and pop singer Izabella Scorupco.

Old video, eternal evidence why many women will never need feminist ideology:
