I may be a bit sensitive about this since I am a Catholic, and it seems that the same things are being said about Catholics as are being said about Jews. Yet here on FR we have many, many Catholics who are clearly conservative.

I think 57% of Catholics voted Obama. They get attacked for this? Maybe I see the Jewish threads so am more sensitive

That's true, but there were freepers scapegoating Jews for everything from the Iraq war to the 2006 congressional loss. As I noted, it's not about the issues, but the Jews.

Many lefties are historically ignorant - or make statements suggesting that they are. That's because they don't like it when the historical truth impedes their their objective of selling otherwise politically unpopular ideas, so they have to invent their own history in order to convince the gullible masses.

In all honesty, there are some innovations from the Muslim world which benefited Western civilization, but none since the medieval period. Since then, they have contributed almost nothing.

The only way to understand it is as an addiction - in this case, an addiction to the 'Rats. Just like any other addiction, it's a behavior which contradicts and supersedes rational thought, and is ultimately lethal unless overcome soon enough.
