WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration says executive compensation must be better managed to prevent the sort of risk-taking that jeopardizes the economy.

Gene Sperling, who advises Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, said Thursday the administration does not want to impose caps on executive pay. But he also laid out for the House Financial Services Committee a list of guidelines calling on publicly-held companies to link compensation to long-term performance, not short-term gains.

Clinton tried this and it led to options madness.

“The current system is based upon ceo board cronyism and little stockholders like me have no say in the matter.”

So you would rather have a government(run by czars that are accountable to no-one) that operates on democrat cronyism and marxist theology where the people of the entire country have no say in the matter?

I've been saying for years that if we keep talking about a minimum wage, we'll eventually also end up with a maximum wage.

So, I assume, the publically held movie studios and sports franchises will cut actors and players salaries.

Actors that play in movies that are busts should definitely not get paid and players on teams that finish in the basement, nada.

Let's be consistent here.

As the Error of Clinton showed us, there exists a sizeable bloc of Democrats who will cut their noses off to spite their faces. It wasn't until Hillary posed a challenge to Obama that the gloves were FINALLY off for Democrats to be up front with their disapproval of the Clintons.

It took Pete Seeger 40 years to admit that Stalin did "some" bad things.

Stalinists can hold their tongues a very long time.

Approval polls mean nothing when poll respondents LIE about being happy.

I don't know what will be their breaking point. Maybe when they lose their homes to foreclosure and their credit card companies start asking for payment in full and they lose their job and food prices and gas prices are up at the store and their savings don't buy as much anymore.

Obama's Moving Tax Threshold: $250,000? $200,000? $150,000? What Next?   [Byron York]

One of the things I've seen at Republican rallies is that people just don't believe Barack Obama when he says he'll raise taxes only on those who make more than $250,000 a year.  It's not that these people make that much money or even think they'll make that much money sometime in the next four years.  It's that they believe Obama, once in office, would lower the threshold and raise taxes on people who make less than $250,000.

Obama's position in the past was that he would raise taxes on families making more than $250,000 a year and individuals making more than $200,000.  But in his new ad, "Defining Moment," he seems to lower it to $200,000 for families. "Here's what I'll do as president," Obama says in the ad.  "To deal with our current emergency I'll launch a rescue plan for the middle class That begins with a tax cut for 95 percent of working Americans. If you have a job, pay taxes and make less than $200,000 a year, you'll get a tax cut." That seems kind of ambiguous, but the graphic on the screen says clearly: "Famlies making less than $200,000 get tax cut." Now, the McCain campaign is pointing out something that Joe Biden said in a Pennsylvania TV interview yesterday:

What we’re saying is that $87 billion tax break doesn’t need to go to people making an average of 1.4 million, it should go like it used to. It should go to middle class people — people making under $150,000 a year.”

Well, maybe when they can’t watch TV because they couldn’t afford the electricity bill (courtesy of CAP and TAX) they will pay attention.

How about limiting LAWYERS pay

No thanks. "First they came for the lawyers, but I was not a lawyer so..." You know the rest. Obama's scapegoating thuggery will not end well for any of us.

...and they will substantially raise taxes on all self employed rich too. The small silver lining is that the rich fools that supported Obama are going to get it.

Does Tiger Woods earn too much,,or Barbara Streisand???

Or Bruce Springstein, or Sean Penn, or Madonna, or every idiot in the MSM. And what about their retirement or their children's futures. Are they supposed to be poor with no opportunities? MSM: Don't you use the same dollar us conservatives use? Do you want the government to control your retirement, your life savings and your 401ks? Because it's coming.
