TV host David Letterman has been criticised for making "sexually perverted" comments and "rape jokes" about Sarah Palin's teenage daughter.
The former vice presidential candidate hit back after he called her "slutty" and appeared to suggest her 14-year-old child slept with a baseball star.
Letterman, the host of The Late Show on CBS, told his audience Mrs Palin looked like a "slutty flight attendant" on a trip to New York.
The Alaskan governor was there for a baseball game and to be honoured by a special needs group, accompanied by Willow, 14.

Your comment is so true. I only found out about the story because a liberal acquaintance posted that thought Letterman the coolest person in the world and that the Palins were over reacting. Disgusting!
I suspect the roots of all this outrage started the day McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate and the media attacked like a pack of crazed wolves. People have had enough.
Definitely. And I also should say I totally understand and agree with Sarah Palin’s response. If that were my kid, or any other young gal that I know that he was joking about, I’d probably feel the same way. Did you see Contessa Slut Brewer on PMSNBC asking “Why did Sarah Palin’s feelings get hurt?” Um, maybe because they made an ugly crack about her daughter???
Huck ... very well reasoned & articulate response to my firebrand type reply to your earlier post. Rant mode off.
Thanks. That’s Ok. I’ve just been mulling over this whole hullabaloo this morning while downloading/burning many files for work. Just chatting and thinking about it. It was provocative of me to bring Al Sharpton into it. But, your reply triggered more thoughts on the matter, which allowed me to digest a little more of what’s going on. It’s fun to kick stuff around, and I don’t mind it getting a little rough and dirty. If all that churning leads to one or two polished thoughts, it’s worth the effort.
Tha wasn’t even the worst joke, in my opinion. He also said about her “They were having trouble keeping Elliot Spitzer away from her,” also referencing the 14 year old.
Since Spitzer was known for his use of prostitutes, that joke is basically calling a 14 year old girl a prostitute!
Ed
yes that joke has kind of gotten lost in the shuffle with the other one, and i agree it was almost worse.
He also said Eliot Spitzer mistook Bristol for a hooker.
One nice thing about having a reputation for retaliation: it reduces the number of people interested in messing with you. The downside of trying to be too "nice", too "fair" is that you have to put up with a lot.
But by placing Michelles name in you are placing an adult who is in a position where she will be the butt of jokes not a teen age girl. Try placing their oldest daughters name in there when she turns 14 and then we will see the reaction.
Kids of politions have no say in their parents jobs, unless they are continually messing up and being caught doing something illegal their names or even the fact that they are with their parent at an event like a ball game (even celebrity parents take their kids to ball games) should not be mentioned. Making a ‘joke’ about Palin appearing to be a ‘slut’ is one thing (crude but she is an adult), making a joke that includes a 14 yo girl is another.
If people let Letterman and CBS ‘slide’ because it was a joke then we probably are lost.
Unless there is more to Sarah and Todd’s statements then was posted here they did not say anything about the crude ‘slut’ joke, just about bringing a 14 yo into a sexually intended joke by a perverted 60+ something man. I thought that was a good one.
If it is a no no to mention the actual problems of Chelsea Clinton and the Gore children when they were minors why is it ok to bring in the Palin kids with crude sexual jokes.
My point was that it would be TOTALLY out of line if about Michelle Obama - so how much MORE SO for a 14 year old daughter of a Governor!
The left is so hateful that they cannot see what is obvious. I’d be pissed if Letterman had said this about Michelle, so it is WAY out of line of a kid.
