Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon used the occasion of a fatal shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC allegedly by a white supremacist to accuse Sheriff Joe Arpaio of being sympathetic to Nazis and neo-Nazis. At a news conference called to discuss Phoenix's light rail system, Gordon led off expressing his sympathies to the family of the victim in the DC shooting. He then called white supremacists "despicable" and wondered aloud why community and law enforcement leaders across the Valley have repeatedly denounced white Supremacists, except for Arpaio.
According to Gordon, the sheriff has had numerous occasions to criticize neo-Nazis, but has instead said things like "I'm the sheriff of all the people. I'll defend anyone's rights." Gordon pointed to a Larry King interview with Arpaio where he quoted Arpaio as saying, "You know, they call you KKK. They did me. I think it's an honor, right? It means we must be doing something right."
Gordon called on Arpaio to, "for the first time," denounce neo-Nazis and their methods.

I’m sure this imbecile was right up front condeming the Muslim supremacist murderer of the army recruiter in Arkansaas and those who influenced him. Right.
>with Arpaio as Sheriff, he cares about one thing. Law-breakers get punished. Thats it.
THAT, I think, is why he is so well respected.
Arpaio is standing up to the Obama "Just Us" department attempt to make him knuckle under to vote fraud friendly policy. This smear is part of a larger attack to remove him as an obstacle to stealing elections.
sure he was /s
I broke the law there and got punished. It wasn’t the High Sheriffs fault.
Amazing how disgusting liberals are.
He then called white supremacists “despicable”
What’s your take on Mexican drug gang members, Mayor?
The Phoenix mayor is an illegal alien loving pile of crap!
Talk about a cheap and dishonest cheap shot!!!!!
Gordon is screwing with the wrong man.
“what Mexican drug gang members”?, phil asks.
This thing between Gordon and Arpaio is getting completely out of control. Listen up, Mayor Pantywaist! Arpaio’s approval ratings are sky high. You’d be wise to quit bashing America’s favorite sheriff.
libs have no problem with taking those, the end justifies the means.
phil ought to have been focusing on that boondoggle light rail that he was supposed to have been speaking about.
Having lived in Tucson for a couple of years, and observed this interesting situation in Phoenix...I will offer this analysis.
The city management and the city cops of Phoenix...don’t have a positive view of Sheriff Joe. The city cops could lay out a hundred screw-ups with the Sheriff’s office and how things were mishandled.
Sheriff Joe continually gets re-elected but then it’s based off his tactics of treating criminals. The curious thing...when you examine the yearly crime rate in the city and the county...it’s stabilized (for at least ten years...maybe even longer). So whatever actions Joe takes on the criminals in his jail...doesn’t really matter anymore. The crime rate is not improving as you gaze across all the numbers.
I will also offer this....that if Sheriff Joe had broken any laws...the city cops would have handed evidence over to the state, and he would have been arrested already. This hasn’t happened. So he is staying on the legal side of events.
You mean that light rail that I drive past every morning? The one that is EMPTY every day during rush hour traffic?
yep, the same one people keep running into, literally
"Keep the pressure up; don't let up." It's supposed to be a press conference on light rail, but instead he devotes it to attacking Joe Arpaio ad hominem.
