Anti-Abortion Leader May Buy Clinic

MONICA DAVEY

Published: June 10, 2009

An anti-abortion leader says his group may try to buy the now-closed Wichita abortion clinic owned by a doctor who was shot and killed last month.

The leader, Troy Newman, the president of Operation Rescue, said on Wednesday that his group, which had long fought to close the clinic, was considering trying to buy the squat, beige building to perhaps turn it into a memorial museum, “a tribute to the babies,” that might be open to visitors.

For decades, the clinic, Women’s Health Care Services Inc., had been operated by George R. Tiller, the doctor who was fatally shot on May 31 as he served as an usher at his Wichita church.

It was one of only a few offices in the country where women could receive abortions late in their pregnancies.

Personally, I don’t think the Tiller family should receive one more dime of blood money.

And now more news from an AP Report:

“Neb. doc plans to offer 3rd-term abortions in Kan.

OMAHA, Neb. – A Nebraska doctor said Wednesday that he will perform third-term abortions in Kansas after the slaying of abortion provider George Tiller, but declined to say whether his plans include opening a new facility or offering the procedure at an existing practice.

Dr. LeRoy Carhart declined to discuss his plans in detail during a telephone interview with The Associated Press, but insisted “there will be a place in Kansas for the later second- and the medically indicated third-trimester patients very soon.”

“I just think that until everything is in place, it’s something that doesn’t need to be talked about” in detail, Carhart said a day after Tiller’s family announced his Wichita clinic was permanently shutting its doors.”

Tiller’s clinic was one of the only facilities in the country that performed third-trimester abortions.

Carhart has run his own clinic in Bellevue, Neb. since 1985, but had performed late-term abortions at Tiller’s clinic because of Nebraska’s more restrictive abortion laws.

Open a Crisis Pregnancy Center there. Or an adoption office.

What church would even have Tiller as a member - let alone as an usher...?

“Christian” Churches- the detritus of the Post-Reformation Period.

Since the left loves symbolism so much, I think it would be a neat idea to level the place, pave it with black asphalt and erect little white crosses to represent every life taken on the sight. The white plastic crosses could have a light inside each one, that would make them glow white at night.

If one could determine the number of late term abortions that had taken place at the sight, those crosses could have red lights inside them, so at night they would glow red.

Then people could drive by the memorial day or night and mourn the dead.

A large billboard could explain what the significance of the crosses was.

If he wants to buy it for this purpose, he shouldn’t make it known. He should use a “straw purchaser” to get it from Tiller’s family first and then transfer it. It should be a memorial honoring the murdered, but the family won’t sell it to him for that purpose.
