It’s hilarious to listen to them argue, “It’s a financial burden for minorities to have to obtain an ID.”

Wrong!!! In GA you can get a FREE voter id anytime you want. Any driver’s license office or country registrar will issue one to you FOR FREE!!!

There is NO financial burden on anyone (poor or othwerise). Heck, the driver’s license offices are even open on Sat. in my area, so you can’t even make the claim you have to take off of work.

The move on Monday means a January 2009 ruling by a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold the state’s photo ID law is final.

YESSS!!!!!
Go home ACORN. You are not welcome here!

Yet on the flip side, you have to show an ID to cash a check, pick up a perscription, buy alcohol and cigarettes, get on an airplane, use a credit card, drive a car, get into a bar or night club, etc.

Amazing, isn't it!

You do understand their fear of being beaten and castrated at the DMV by all the folks wearing pillow cases over their heads....right?

I think you have to provide a birth certificate for most things except all the secrets this country has plus the nuclear codes. You do not need a BC for that.

We need voter ID in every state before November of 2010 and its time Republicans go on the offensive and stay there!

No - I didn’t!

I read the first few paragraphs and it was entirely reasonable for H0lder/0bama. Scary.

Glad to know we’re good to go tho!

I would think this SCOTUS ruling should be a template for all states to demand it.

Does this mean the DOJ order that said the state of GA had to quit cleaning its voter roles is void?

NO!! This ruling and the DOJ ruling are 2 different issues. The DOJ ruling dealt with citizenship checks. The Supreme Court ruling dealt with Photo ID Checks. Karen Handel, Georgia SOS posted this on her Facebook page earlier today:

Good news: Yesterday the Supreme Court refused to hear the case on requiring photo ID to vote. This reaffirmed that our measure was proper. Should be the end of legal challenges to our common-sense law. This is not the same as the citizenship screening we have been fighting for but it is a big victory!

And posted this link to read: Only the (eligible) living should vote.

More likely the fear of being fingerprinted.

The last time I got my license renewed, they scanned my fingerprint and placed it on the back of the license as some type of bar code. I wonder if the free voter ID cards have that also?

Actually, with today’s technology, there isn’t any technical reason why you couldn’t use a person’s thumbprint as their voter-ID (other than the fact that you wouldn’t want the gov. to have your fingerprint.)

Exactly right! Let ACORN get it for them.

Small poke in the eye for ACORN and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Morris Deas must be deeply saddened.

[Wrong!!! In GA you can get a FREE voter id anytime you want.]

Lib response: It’s still a financial burden because you have to pay to take a bus or a taxi to the DMV office. And, it takes almost a whole day of traipsing down there and sitting around waiting...time is money, you know.

I had to provide a birth certificate to go to school, join the military, and get my first driver's license.

I also had to show it every once in a while when applying for a job.

But you're right, I guess that you don't need one in order to have the authority to launch nuclear weapons, and have a Top Secret or higher security clearance

While it’s encouraging that this law was upheld, making it easier for other states to adopt similar legislation, it’s not going to make much difference in Georgia. What we need is for the battleground states, like OH, MI, PA, FL, etc. to adopt this kind of requirement for it to mean anything substantive in national elections.
