Dr. LeRoy Carhart, one of the nation's few providers of late-term abortions, called on the federal government to treat as hate crimes all activities by "anti-choice domestic terrorists," compared the slain Dr. George Tiller to Martin Luther King and said planting crosses was equivalent to actions by the Ku Klux Klan.
"This is the equivalent of Martin Luther King being assassinated," Dr. Carhart said of the May 31 slaying of one of America's best-known late-term abortion providers. "This is the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Lusitania and any other major historic event where we've tolerated the intolerable for too long."
Scott P. Roeder, 51, has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the fatal shooting of Dr. Tiller.
"I think there is absolutely no difference in putting a cross in front of a person's home because of what race they belong to than there is putting a cross in front of our homes because we do abortions," said Dr. Carhart, who assisted Dr. Tiller in providing late-term abortions at his Wichita, Kan., practice every three weeks.

wow I had no idea that killing innocent defenseless babies was such an honorable profession.
When will abortion become a HATE CRIME?
Why give these nuts the time of day?
It is, but as of right now only God is handling it.
“martyrdom” ping
There the libs go again...confusing physical characteristics with behaviors.
There is NOTHING righteous, selfless, or compassionate about his actions.
"This is the equivalent of Martin Luther King being assassinated," Dr. Carhart said ... "This is the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Lusitania and any other major historic event where we've tolerated the intolerable for too long."
Did you know this man had been excommunicated from his Missouri synod church because of the abortion issue?
It seems unreal, but it is all too real, makes me heart sick.
Carhart will find that MLK’s niece feels a little different about the matter.
Of course the left will use this murder as an excuse to put normal people in jail for their opinions on abortion, and to step up repressive measures.
Instead of arresting nuns who pray near an abortion clinic, how about investigating all “minorities” who join the death cult?
very warped. they probably have their own songs and everything.
slaughter the little children, all the children of the world
That’s all that really counts, anyhow.
It seems like Dr. Carhart is raising his profile on the dead shoulders of his former colleague. He may be giving himself more exposure than he can handle, given all the nutcases that will use violence to state their stand against abortion.
From MLK’s “I have a Dream” speech:
“”...We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity...””
Perhaps, MLK would think robbing children of their life is even worse.
This kind of incendiary hyperbole actually does exactly the opposite of what it intends to do. Instead of generating outrage and galvanizing the baby-butchering community, it only serves to embarrass the sane middle element and discredit the entire extreme position. Anyone with half a brain — even liberals — know that a soulless creep who slaughtered children for a living isn’t the moral equal of a martyred civil rights leader. And the former’s death hardly compares to the sinking of a civilian ocean liner with the consequent loss of thousands of lives.
Nice try, Doc. Thanks for making a fool of yourself.
I would expect more from the Washington Times. They should not use the term “bankruptcy doctor,” with the care for human life that that connotes, to describe this late-term abortionist
