American Legion Critical of Obama for Apologizing to Muslim World for U.S. Actions in Aftermath of 9/11 Monday, June 08, 2009 By Edwin Mora
(CNSNews.com) The nations largest veterans organization, the American Legion, criticized President Obama for apologizing for to the Muslim world for U.S. behavior in the in aftermath of the 9/11 attacks during his address from Cairo last week.
When the president pronounces, as he did in his conciliatory address in Egypt, that the events of Sept. 11, 2001, in his words, led us to act contrary to our traditions and our ideals, he must, in our opinion, demand equally public admission from the Muslim world, David K. Rehbein, national commander of the American Legion said in a news release.
Obama, who reiterated his commitment to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by 2012, apologized for the way the U.S. reacted to the 9/11 attacks by Muslim extremists.
9/11 was an enormous trauma to our country, he added. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases, it led us to act contrary to our ideals.
The president also pointed out that he believes the U.S. has a responsibility to give Iraq back to its people.

Maybe we as US Citizens need to give OBAMA back to mulsins!
I was thinking, while listening to Obama’s speech, what an insult to soldiers who are now fighting, or have recently fought in iraq. Just because the Democrats refuse to do or say anything that might possibly make Pres. Bush look good, they refuse to even acknowledge the heroism, sacrifice, bravery and good works done there by our military.
They are treating Iraqi vets just as despicably as they treated Viet Nam vets. Damn them!
I guess this is part of these veterans becoming “domestic terrorists” as per Napolitano’s memo.
Maybe Obama should read up on the history of the two World Wars of the 20th Century and find out what side Islam was on.
I think that's his overall game plan.
Is it just me, or does anyone else get the impression that the idea of Americans being fearful and angry gets him off? He sure does like to talk about it.
I tell you the “sadness and anger” sure welled up in me last night while I was reading a book to my kids.
There was an illustration of a boat coming into New York harbor, with the Statue of Liberty and the Twin Towers.
“What are those, Daddy?”
I thought, “I’m going to have to explain that to them some day...”
And I had to pause for a bit before going on.
If I had the money & time, I’d conduct my own world-wide tour of speeches: “I’m-Sorry-A-Majority-Of-Idiot-Voters-Put-This-Community-Organizer-In-Office”
More likely, he was on that same side. What he counts on is the fact that the vast ignorant voter pool has absolutely no concept of history.
I don't usually grok his act, but Donald Trump was exactly right. He told New Yorkers to build the World Trade towers back exactly has they had been, to show the world that that was how we roll in America, and that people like the hijackers don't get to write their names on our history.
Now the country's in financial crisis and in the hands of a political cabal that hates her, and us, and the idea of America, and those towers won't be rebuilt now. The hijackers have won.
I am sick of US presidential apologies to tyrants and villains. Those empty, Clintonesque gestures need to be openly rejected by Americans and to the very people these executives disgraced and humbled themselves before.
Here is the “apology” those audiences deserve.
“On September 11th of the year on the Christian calendar 2001, Muslims, acting in the name of Islam, murdered over 3,000 innocent Americans. Throughout the Muslim world, hundreds of thousands of Muslims cheered and danced in in the streets, in joy at this act of war, evil and depravity. None came forth to condemn the murderers or to assert anything more than some vague condemnation of “terrorism”. Instead, there was general glee, and the profound hope that more innocent blood could be shed, and in every corner of the world, again, all in the name of Islam.”
“Soon, though, a terrible fear arose in the Muslim world that this vile and swinish attack would not go unanswered. That though butchery of innocents had been accomplished through deceit, treachery, and dishonor, that it would not go unpunished. That the Muslims who committed this inhuman crime and their allies, would soon find themselves receiving the punishment they richly deserved for their heinous acts.”
“The response to this was the craven groveling of the Muslim world. The sniveling denial of guilt by association, that an Islamic culture imbued with death and murder in its sacred book was somehow divorced from its own doctrines, and not responsible in any way for the hate and murder it had spawned and continued to spawn. That it was ‘a religion of peace’, a concept it had always held in contempt.”
“The cowardice and meanness of this, coupled with anguished fear of righteous retribution, was disgusting. Like a small boy caught in a depraved and perverted act, who will do anything to escape the punishment of his father. Who cries and snivels and lies and blames others in the face of justice.”
“But this justice was inevitable. Those guilty would be found in whatever cesspit they had hidden themselves, trembling in filth and fear, and taken up to face less punishment than they deserved before their souls were condemned to Hell. And these eaters of pork, and copulators of she-asses were found, and brought forth to the fair and kind prisons of those they had trespassed, despite their best efforts at hiding behind women and children.”
“And even in confinement, they were unclean cowards and villains, these finest warriors of Islam. Weeping and crying and gnashing their teeth because their plans and schemes to shed more innocent blood had been prevented. Easily willing to turn on their fellow Muslims and implicate them in their conspiracies, while gorging themselves on fine food. Even in prison they brought shame on themselves and their religion.”
“But the end result will always be the same. Vast numbers of Muslims, disgusted with and despairing of what has and is done, risk their very lives to flee from association with its excesses and depravities. Left to itself, it quickly decays into depravity, chaos, the murderous rule of “whim” and barbarity. Yet always, and to the end, it lashes out at those who lead better, more wholesome lives, and are rewarded by the creator with prosperity and civility, and dominance over those trapped in a morass of superstition and primitivism.”
“This apology is from the civilized world to itself, as the Muslim world lacks the honor to apologize for its endless failures and failings.”
“Have a nice day.”
I feel ya.....mt daughter was almost 4 years old on Sept 11, 2001. A couple of days later, she came to me with a drawing, I couldn’t figure it out. She told me it was the buildings that the bad guys crashed into. She had drawn two rectangles with scribble on top to represent the smoke. Kids should not have to see that kind of stuff.
