WASHINGTON Former first lady Laura Bush says she's pleased that President Barack Obama nominated a woman for the Supreme Court.
"I think she sounds like a winner and a good nominee," Bush said of Sonia Sotomayor, the federal appeals judge Obama picked.

She's Laura Bush, not Michael Savage.
I don't understand your post.
NEVER give the enemy ammunition to use against you!
Question for Mrs, Bush, from a fellow female: What the heck difference does the gender of the justice make?!
You are reacting to the first three words of the headline, and your subsequent comments leave the impression that you didn’t read the article.
And nobody comments about her qualifications and past rulings. The only comments are about .......................
sw
She is a woman of much grace and decency. I wouldn’t expect her to say anything less, truthfully.
“You are reacting to the first three words of the headline, and your subsequent comments leave the impression that you didnt read the article.”
I posted two articles and left one comment saying it would have been best to keep her mouth shut, ... like her husband.
Correction: I also posted the comment on Harriet Miers.
Giving support to the enemies of our country and our way of life does not qualify one as a “class act”. During the American Revolution I am sure that one could have found the Tories to be a classier lot than many of the patriot rabble.
I am more interested in truth than whatever it is that qualifies as “class”. I could voice my objection to the Obama disaster and still maintain my dignity and honor. It’s not that hard.
Then why doesn’t she just simply say - “that’s above my pay grade” then? That would serve two purposes - both the politic and the class angle of it.
She’d get in a well placed meaningful dig that intelligent people would understand and would sound magnanimous to everyone else that’s too lazy to become less clueless.
Yes, but in this case; I would just keep my mouth shut.
You assumption I am reacting to the word “glad” is utterly false. I am reacting to the fact she gave the interview to GMA in the first place and/or commented on Sotomayor at all.
“Good nominee???”
Bush called Sonia Sotomayor, Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, “a very interesting and good nominee.”
“You know, as a woman, I’m proud that there might be another woman on the court and so, we’ll see what happens, but I wish her well,” Bush said.
I can't help but have the nagging suspicion that she's part and parcel of the globalization effort by the US government.
A true, honest, 'non partisan' reply, IMHO, would have been more along the lines of:
I'm glad the President nominated a woman. Men and women are inherently different, and numerous perspectives often result in deeper insights on an issue.

Why does Bush owe Obama his 'silence', anyway
Jimmy Carter is STILL running his head!
They are so unaffected and isolated they may as well be another species.
Why do you assume these are their political enemies. Seems to me they have the same goals as the Bushs.
It really isn’t too surprising to see the Bush comments favoring the Sotomayor’s nomination.
After all, who appointed Sotomayor to the bench?
Answer: George Herbert Walker Bush.
It’s a family thing.
All she needed to say was, “We’re making a point of not commenting on the new President’s decisions, so I won’t comment.”
