TERRORISTS FREE TO KILL ONCE AGAIN AS THEY SLIP THE GRASP OF GITMO'S KID GLOVES.
The Pentagon now confirms that at least 74 former Guantanamo detainees have resumed terrorist activities after claiming they weren't terrorists. Such recidivism points up an alarming intelligence failure.
These dangerous prisoners should never have been cleared for release. Why did interrogators fail to find the cracks in their stories and alibis?
Why wasn't more intelligence gathered to predict they'd rejoin al Qaeda or the Taliban? In a word, politics. Gitmo interrogations have been emasculated to placate critics of waterboarding and other "torture," say two senior officials there.
For that matter, Gitmo doesn't even do "interrogations" anymore. They're now called interviews, and they're voluntary.

I seriously doubt the intelligence failure claim. Ignoring of reliable intelligence is, and always has been, the problem. Of course, the libs will never admit to a failure in judgement.
And, one might argue that these people were released by the Bush Administration and I would reply with the question, "Do you mean that no liberals served in that administration?"
Should’ve just executed the bastards to begin with.
There seems to be a lot of that going around lately. I'm convinced it's not a failure at all, that the people responsible for collecting, examining and disseminating it have been against the administration of George Bush, father and son, and saw it as a tool to be used to help discredit them. Just as I am convinced the whole Valerie Plame affair was a set up from the git-go.
And I get these ideas even when I'm wearing my 3rd-generation, state-of-the-art tinfoil hat, so there must be something to them.
Part of the problem is likely prisoners who turned to terrorism after leaving Gitmo even if they were not involved with terrorism before getting caught in the dragnet. The motive likely being revenge.
Egads, we don't need a bunch of intelligence gathering dimwits sitting around pondering if Achmed would go back to da hood and meet up with all his gangsta homies to take up old habits and lifetime beliefs. Once a terrorist, always a terrorist. Period. The end.
One must collect the dots in order to connect them.
So we should just close Gitmo and give them full Constitutional Rights. That should fix the problem.
Pray for the USSA
I’m sure these decisions weren’t made at ground level, but by careerists at DOJ and/or State.
Therefore, who’s surprised?
Scheuer is right. Kill them all.
Revenge for what? Taking them out of a sandbox sh*thole and giving them three sqaure halal meals per day in a comparative tropical paradise where most of them put on weight?
They had their families in the sandbox.
Every detainee probably gives a story like that. The reality is that they are a fraction of one percent.
Documentation for your “reality”?
Turn them loose at the doorway to Amnesty International.
They are the ones who want them.
Hi TEch RedNeck -
Do you really think the military and the intelligence community just wrangled up 500 random dudes hangning out in Iraq/Pakistand et al to send to Gitmo for their jollies and to really get back at those nasty Arab and Persians?
Come on...we’ll never see the “documentation” of why those people are there but for my money I trust the highly organized and usually quite accurate intelligence community over some liberal crap about the oh so poor detainees who miss their families etc.
Are there some mistakes? Of course we’re not perfect, but tally up the number of US citizens in foreign jails on completely crap charges and I bet we’re on the short end of the stick in terms of people wrongly detained and I bet by a long shot but I hear ZERO outrage from the Libs about those AMERICANS who are missing their families and friends.
Just my opinion, no facts to provide because I’m not privy to them nor do I care enough to chase down more info than I’ve read over the last few years which has provided me my opinion.
This is our fault for not giving them ENOUGH at Gitmo. If we had provided them with enough love, affection, and material support, they would not have wanted to raise their self-esteem by joining up with Al Qaeda. We are CREATING terrorism with our cruel imprisonment. (Do I need the /sarc?)
Sort of like a U.S. Judge, if they were to let a murderer off the hook after killing one of my family, I think rather than being like Sandra Day wants us to be, (compliant) I think I’d have to after who ever let the puke loose.
The puke, and his family.
Poor terrorists...they’re so misunderstood...they need Comfy Chairs.
Many of our soldiers were killed or wounded capturing the terrorists at Gitmo, and now more of our soldiers will be killed or wounded re-capturing some of the same terrorists. Time for our young people to stop volunteering, since the government thinks they are expendable.
