A 72-year-old former State Department employee and his 71-year-old wife have been arrested and charged with illegally aiding the government of Cuba for nearly 30 years, the Department of Justice announced Friday. Walter Kendall Myers retired from the State Department in October 2007.

Walter Kendall Myers and his wife, Gwendolyn Myers, were charged with conspiracy to act as illegal agents of the Cuban government, providing classified information to that government, and wire fraud, according to court documents unsealed in Washington.

The couple appeared briefly Friday before a federal magistrate in Washington, who ordered them held without bail pending a detention hearing Wednesday. Judge John Facciolo agreed with prosecutors that the couple might try to flee the country if not held.

Damned interesting and not even done reading it all. Does this article suggests this Myers is one of the 'grunts in the basement' at the State Department who helped sabotaged Bush?

Bolton was right about Cuban spies. I wonder what Torricelli and Menendez are thinking right now?

The Cuban American Community is very unhappy. If Gwen worked for anyone in Congress they will find out and expose everyone they can!

I love the south Florida Cuban community. They are some of the BEST Americans!

Get ‘em convicted and take their government pensions.

They can go live out their remaining years in their beloved Communist Paradise, where all their wants and needs will be taken care of.

Let them experience what many thousands of Cubans have had to. Drop them in the middle of the Gulf Stream and let them swim!

The government said that Gwendolyn Myers revealed to investigators that her favorite places to pass information were Washington-area grocery stores.

He applied for a position at the CIA in 1981. He didn’t get the job but later was able to get work at the State Department, where his security clearance rose over the next two decades.

30 YEARS .. undetected ???

Or 30 years under surveillance? Undetected seems more plausible Just wondering how they found out now? My guess, a Cuban mole who recently either died or got clear of Cuba.

Sounds like our government is mad because they retired and now they have to find someone else to pass information on.

They could have been victims of a CIA ruse. The CIA or FBI may have been on to them and giving them chickenfeed and misinformation. Mostly chickenfeed, but every once in a while a tasty tidbit of choice misinformation thrown in for seasoning.

Have been searching everywhere. Yet to see who this Cuban spy witch worked for on the Hill.

The media seems reluctant to tell us. Which tells us EVERYTHING.

On my facebook page, I called them Obama fundraisers. :)

30 YEARS .. undetected ???

I would bet these two communist Democrats were "detected" long ago. When a mole or spy is detected, a window of opportunity opens for a disinformation campaign. Intelligence jiu jitsu. The exact date the spies were detected will not be revealed, thereby (hopefully) assuring that the recipient of the classified information can never be sure when that classified information lost its reliability.

As for arresting these two communist Democrats, why bother? - - Sheesh, somebody may as well jail the whole foul, stinking State Department.

And what’s with the possibility of being jailed for ONLY 35 years? Granted they would be more than 100 years old when released, but come on! This is treason, and they should be treated as traitors traditionally were handled, at the end of a noose.
