Joseph Hooks is a Seattle city employee and a commissioner on the Washington state Commission on African American Affairs...police say the [three month] delay [in charging Hooks with beating a white man] had nothing to do with his Hook's professional life...A few days after the incident, Hooks spoke with KOMO News. He first claimed he didn't remember a fight, but later said he had acted in self-defense...[The white victim, Michael] McBain's injuries were so severe he's had to put some of his medical studies at the University of Washington on hold. He may need surgery to repair his eye.

Apparently Joe Hooks is not only a psycho but also a rump ranger:

Joseph Hooks and Dorothy Baker, in a lawsuit filed June 13, say that they were harassed by the company's director of compliance and equal opportunity, Craig Sawyer.

Starbucks denies the claims.

Hooks reported to Sawyer from January 2007 until May 2007. According to court documents, Sawyer made anti-gay remarks and references to Hooks during this time and repeatedly pressured him to apply for positions elsewhere in the company.

In April of that year, Sawyer told Hooks that he could not go to lunch with him and another employee because “just the boys are going to lunch,” according to the suit. . .

I'm curious as to why zeestephen felt compelled to post a story that barely has local appeal here in Seattle, let alone to the folks in this forum.

Is this not news worthy to post a story about someone connected to a Washington state Commission, that brutally assaulted someone, and then lied about it?

Are we not supposed to read about or post news events here?

I posted this news article because it highlights preferential legal treatment based on race.

I don't concern myself with the local appeal.

I post on this forum because it's where I've been posting every week for more than five years.

I don't care what the race of either the victim or the perpetrator is in any situation. But in this case, if the races were reversed or both of these men were of the same race, you would have never seen the story here.

Darn how old could you be? I am 51 yrs old & I live in a state where a white person would have been arrested just as fast as a black person. At least that is the way it has been for as long as I can remember. Beating anyone that badly would have resulted in an arrest asap no matter what race you are.

I've seen lots of murder/assault stories posted on this forum where white guys were the suspect/perpetrator.

A state that has a “Commissioner of African American Affairs” is sick. One that has such a “Commisioner” that goes around beating up on White Folks is sicker. The wimp that got his ass beat should have “manned up” and kicked a little ass of his own.
